Well I get the vibe that it is an oracle that can bring interesting insights for daily draw (and more of course). the illustrations are very evocative, atmospheric and magical somehow. But it just arrived I can't really say too much about it. Below! Edited August 27, 2019 by Decan
JustPeachy Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 Got the email yesterday that my Dark Mansion shipped, only No Tracking Number, so I'm unable to move into Stalking Phase 2: Tracking every movement, which is very...deflating to say the least. 😑

I feel your pain. I have a couple decks coming from the UK, just shipped. Going to take 2 weeks to arrive. No way to track. I might DIE!

No it’s just a video I found. The LWB is really limited though, I hoped something else. For the card stock while fine I hoped something else too, the cards are a bit thick and the varnishing aspect isn’t 100% for my taste. But it’s a nice deck!
bookshop Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 (edited) On the subject of waiting interminably for decks, haha, back in July i finally caved and bought a copy of the Wild Unknown for $5 on ebay, because it was so cheap and I feel like the entire world has worn me into feeling obligated to own this deck. And it was being shipped from China, and the estimated arrival time was between the end of August and the first of September. A long wait, but sure. I just checked, however, and now the estimated arrival time is the end of September, lol. I definitely am getting what I paid for! I also just splurged and bought 4 decks from the awesome awesome Bulgarian tarot website, and now I have to wait 2 weeks or so for them, haha. (The decks are the Musterberg tarot, the Lubok / Russian Tarot, the Tarocchi di Dario Fo, and the Corte dei Tarocchi) Oh! And I meant to say, I recently got a used copy of the Rackham Oracle, 1st edition, so it doesn't have the extra cards, but I also really like it. The card stock is quite nice and I think the varnishing gives it a nice linen-y feel. The one thing i'm unsure about is the decorative border at the top because i think it distracts from the artwork. I also kind of wish i'd gotten to pick my own back (the card back I got is the one that is the default), but then when i was considering buying from the publisher, i couldn't figure out which back I wanted anyway, so I guess it's just as well 😂 Edited August 27, 2019 by bookshop

Might?! 😁 I am waiting for my 'Stockholm Octavo' deck to arrive from usa this week.. no tracking no.. and all I got was a lousy customer bill telling me to pay 10 dollars to stop them from kidnapping the deck 4ever... gaah Katie
bookshop Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 @Katie please tell us more about these cards! i googled and all I could find was a reference to the 2012 novel. Is it based on a real deck? Did they make a real deck based on the book? I'm so curious.

It's these https://historicgames.com/xcart/16th_century_german_cards.html The deck is old, the book is new (2010?) There is also a book by same author "The Octavo Handbook" that I have already and in that book there are explainations for each card in that deck plus a text about the Octavo spread (that the story in the book "Stockholm octavo" is about). JustPeachy Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 Deviant Moon arrived this afternoon. I tore into the deck, read the LWB and visited all of the cards so that's some solace for today.
alyce Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 Just ordered the Retrospective Tarot by Ciro Marchetti. It's the priciest deck by far that I've ever had; here's hoping the decision was a good one 😱 I couldn't not get it after watching the flipthrough:
bookshop Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 @Katie those look so neat! and the price is so low compared to tarot decks o.O the author's handbook sounds interesting, i'll have to look into it. thank you! also i keep forgetting to mention that i just got a copy of the Dame Darcy Mermaid Tarot, i think after being reminded of it when i saw it in someone's tarot collection here — i think it was @Raggydoll, maybe? Anyway yay for inspiration. I think that artwork is really fantastic, I'm really looking forward to the deck.

Ciro Marchetti has had a strong following for some time, but out of all his fleet of decks, the Retrospective is the only one that really catches my eye. And boy does it (seem to) knock it out of the park.
Katie Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 (edited) Oups, I thought my collection was complete...but it wasn't. Ordered these from that "heritage" playing card company in the UK. So many decks because of Brexit ahead. Edited August 28, 2019 by Katie

I actually didn't care anything at all for the deviant moon deck despite its huge popularity before I got the trionfi della luna, but afterwards, it felt like I was missing half the equation, so I picked it up on a whim at Barnes and Noble last week. TBH I'm still not sure how i feel about it, but i can definitely see why you'd be tempted to own more than one copy of the trionfi della luna! (I also have photos of this in the unboxing thread i think!) I meant to reply sooner oops! I'm really excited and half contemplating tracking down the other two editions I know about, the paradox blue and purple! On 8/24/2019 at 3:25 AM, Katie said: Maybe off topic but when postman brought DM regular edition I got an extra card which I now realize is from the limited edition. The silk matte card surface on that card is really nice. Since I like it so much I put it in a frame to be cheering me up everyday... This sun card makes me so happy! I have the other card in the regular edition but I personally like this card more. *shrug* I would have framed it too! I ended up preordering the Mythical Creatures from Baba Studio, no more decks for the rest of the month at least! Especially as I'm having a conundrum over on the de-enable thread trying to not pre spend next months pay packet heh.
Raggydoll Posted August 30, 2019 Posted August 30, 2019 The postman just brought me a first edition of the Celtic Shamans pack, that I found for a bargain. I’m really excited!! I believe that the second edition is getting hard to find too at the moment? I wonder if it will also go out of print.
chongjasmine Posted August 30, 2019 Posted August 30, 2019 Before Tarot arrived today. Really like it.
ilweran Posted August 30, 2019 Posted August 30, 2019 Congratulations Raggydoll! The first edition is so much nicer than the second.

My Anima Mundi has been dispatched - very excited about it!
Katie Posted August 30, 2019 Posted August 30, 2019 Postman brought 16th century German playing cards. I call them Stockholm Octavo deck. They were smaller than I imagined. We'll see how they work... Katie
