Flaxen Posted September 2, 2022 Posted September 2, 2022 I’m back from my holiday so I’m ready to jump in again. I will be using the Blood Moon tarot. I got this via Kickstarter and love the artwork. Not sure about it as a reading deck though so I’m going to spend a couple of weeks with it.
fire cat pickles Posted September 2, 2022 Author Posted September 2, 2022 Welcome back, @Flaxen, I hope you enjoyed your vacation!
Wyrdkiss Posted September 2, 2022 Posted September 2, 2022 Greetings. Back in w/ a different Oracle -- the Oracle of Mystical Moments. Looking forward to it everyone.

Bodhiseed Posted September 2, 2022 Posted September 2, 2022 I'm in with the Victorian Romantic Tarot paired with the Dreaming in Color deck. Thank you Fire Cat! ❤️
fire cat pickles Posted September 2, 2022 Author Posted September 2, 2022 You're welcome, @Bodhiseed, and welcome back. Welcome @Wyrdkiss too 🙂
Wyrdkiss Posted September 2, 2022 Posted September 2, 2022 Thanks @fire cat pickles. First pulls from this oracle, plus a pic of the back. The meanings seem a bit cut and paste. For example, Queen Bee: " her children are the children of earth. She nurtures all of us." The other was equally basic. So what does one do with it? That is the crux issue some people have with Oracles. I can fit the definition into a space in my reflection, like a toddler puzzle, seeing where it will match. Or, I say, "not really" and put it aside. I like oracles with some depth verses the lliteral mic-drop meanings. Off to a certain start with this pack.
DesertRat Posted September 2, 2022 Posted September 2, 2022 Good day All, I will be enjoying the Manga Tarot (LoScarabeo) this week. Looking forward to seeing and hearing about everybody's decks!
fire cat pickles Posted September 2, 2022 Author Posted September 2, 2022 Hi @DesertRat and welcome back 🙂
Rachelcat Posted September 3, 2022 Posted September 3, 2022 Hi, everyone! I'm going to try to participate more this week. (I hate it when work gets in the way of tarot!) I’m going to go out a limb here and try to use the Transparent Universal Tarot this week. (It’s another gift from my friend who’s thinning out her deck collection because she’s moving out of the country, as is the white spread cloth.) This is the Lo Scarabeo deck, not Emily Carding’s Transparent Tarot. The illustrations are based on the LS Universal Tarot, a RWS clone. The transparent part is best explained by photos! With this explanation: Majors are on the upper left; Courts are on the lower right; Wands are on the upper-middle right; Cups are on the upper right; Swords are on the lower-middle left; Coins (I guess I should say pentacles because it’s RWS) are on the lower left. With the other areas of the card being transparent. (It also has little indexes so you can tell at a glance which cards you’re looking at.) Using reversals will vary the locations of the various groups. The reading directions in the booklet didn’t make much sense to me, so I made up my own way of reading: Using reversals, I draw cards looking only at the backs of the cards until the all the locations are filled in. Turning them over, I read the six cards shown together, taking into account reversals and the repetition of suits (which is enabled by reversals, and the courts being separated out). This sounds ridiculously complicated, but I hope to you show what I mean over the next few days. Instead of an interview, let’s just use this method to answer the question: Dear Transparent Universal deck, what do I need to know about using you? Judgment, Queen of Wands, 2 Cups, 10 Swords reversed, 4 Wands reversed, 9 Coins The deck really is revolutionary (Judgment), but only for those who truly trust their own initiative and intuition (Queen of Wands). My enthusiasm for it won’t be shared by many (4 Wands rx), but that won’t bother me (10 Swords rx). I might meet someone who feels like I do (2 Cups), but if I don’t, I’ll just be happy to own the deck (9 Coins). Well, that was much easier than I thought! I think I’m going to need good questions to work well with this deck, though, at least at first. But I’m really looking forward to it now!
fire cat pickles Posted September 3, 2022 Author Posted September 3, 2022 Welcome back @Rachelcat Good luck with the Transparent Universal Tarot!

Mi-Shell Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 I am actually too busy to do and or explore much of anything right now, so I am just going to do my daily 3 card draw with the Crow Tarot. Have a good week Everyone! ♥
DesertRat Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 So the suits of this deck are color coordinated. Swords - Blue. Wands - Red. Cups - Yellow. Pentacles - Green. Each card (except for the Fool) is also assigned one or more of four different "glyphs" each associated with a season of the year. The glyphs signify temporal and cyclic elements of the card. A Spring glyph indicates birth, beginning, sunrise, adolescence. Summer - growth, culmination, noon, maturity. Autumn - decline, stagnation, sunset, old age. Winter - death, minimum, night , silence. In the example below, the Six of Pentacles contains the Winter glyph, the Six of Cups the Summer glyph, the Nine of Wands the Autumn glyph. The Ace and the Wheel cards contain all 4 glyphs and the 10 cards contain 3 of the 4 glyphs. Having described all that, I'm not sure I will utilize this extra symbolism much. Especially since it involves me checking the LWB each time because I can't remember which glyph is which. Laying all that aside, I am really enjoying this deck as it has a lovely take on RWS symbology. In other words, it's gorgeous to look at and I can manage to read it without too much trouble. 😃
Bodhiseed Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 This week I'll be using the Victorian Romantic Tarot, created by Alex Ukolov and Karen Mahony with Magic Realist Press as publisher. I will also be drawing from Dreaming in Color: the Luman Deck, created and self-published by Mindy Hope Sommers. Today's draws are the Nine of Pentacles and Catharsis: Just pausing for two to three breaths is a perfect way to stay present. This is a good use of our life. Indeed, it is an excellent, joyful use of our life. ~Pema Chodron One of the nicest things that hard work and self-discipline bring - besides being financially self-sufficient - is that it gives us free time to spend on interests besides work. We have the opportunity to grow and arrange flowers, watch the hummingbirds feed, develop a new hobby, or have coffee with friends. Catharsis, a healthy discharge of tension or emotions, implies that a sacred pause is as necessary as our daily bread. As Khalil Gibran wrote, "For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed."
Agnes Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 This week I’ll be using the Star Spinner tarot

This is a good use of our life. Indeed, it is an excellent, joyful use of our life. ~Pema Chodron Three decks I used to have . . . and really liked! But I gotta keep them circulating. I did a whole 21 Ways to Read a Tarot Card study with the Manga a long time ago. I like the art very much. Something I found odd, that I think must be a manga convention, is that children are drawn in a different style than adults. I was reminded of that when I saw your draw. I really enjoy looking at the Victorian Romantic, but it never really worked for me as a reader. But I can appreciate the work that went into it! And I forgot all about the Dreaming in Color until I saw it here. It is very beautiful, and, well, dreamy art that I really like. It went away when I purged non-systematic oracles from my collection, but now some are now creeping back in (of course). My excuse is I use them as spread cards. Yeah, that's it! I look forward to seeing them all in action this week! In the meantime, here's my reading for today:
Bodhiseed Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 @Rachelcat, you amaze me with the challenging decks you read with!
AnomalyTempest Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 (edited) Can't remember if I signed up this week or last week (and subsequently forgot to post 😛 ) but I'm studying the Thoth deck. My daughter got me the Urban Tarot for my birthday and while looking through it, I noticed there were no kings. They were knights. I just (in July) used my Thoth deck for my daily draws and NEVER NOTICED THIS! 🤣 I had apparently been reading the knights as knights and the princes as knights. This has led me down a rabbit hole of research about Kings vs Knights. Needless to say, I'm going to looking through Barleywine's (?) old thread about Thoth and I'm also listening the Fortune's Wheelhouse podcast too. I'd never heard anything about Art (Temperance) being the Fool's Girlfriend. I feel as though my Tarot education is lacking so I'm studying a lot. I was given the Moonology Oracle a while ago but I have trouble using it as an oracle. Why work with a card about a random energy of the Moon when I can just work with moon. It's an excellent learning tool but I feel like I am not understanding the card part. I've decided to reread the book and try using these cards again because I need something for when my brain is Thothed out. I was gonna be working more with the Matthews Steampunk Tarot and it's sitting with my other decks but I just didn't really Tarot at all in August so they are more on the back burner since the Urban Tarot kicked of Thoth studying frenzy. I'm using the Urban Tarot for my daily draws in September and my Thoth for readings. At any rate, here's my weekly time management spread. Sorry it's so dark. I'll do better next time. What to prioritize this week: The Emperor My mother is having knee replacement surgery this week so keeping to schedule in order to make sure she has meds and meals on time will be key. Maintain structure. How can I better organize my time? 3 Cups/Abundance There is plenty of time. I know how to utilize timers and such so I just need to remember that it's impossible to get behind. A way to be more productive without feeling overwhelmed: Ace of Disks Keep it simple. Stick the basics and remember this week is about one thing. Helping Mom prepare for and heal after her surgery. Everything else is extra. How can I incorporate what I love? The Empress The Emperor and Empress together this week. While I may need to prioritize things like timing meds and meals I need to leave room for things to grow organically outside those parameters. Something new to increase self care: The Fool I puzzled a bit over this. I think it may be a reminder to just BE sometimes. I don't need everything planned out to such a degree there is no room for something new. As always, anyone is free to comment on anything I say. @Rachelcat That deck is awesome and your reading looked super cool. Edited September 4, 2022 by AnomalyTempest
fire cat pickles Posted September 5, 2022 Author Posted September 5, 2022 I've got @Agnes in with the Star Spinner and @AnomalyTempest with the Thoth. Welcome back! @Mi-Shell hopefully we'll see you next week 🙂
Wyrdkiss Posted September 5, 2022 Posted September 5, 2022 Another pill this a.m. I like this card more, as it equates choice in direction. Sailing with the wind, guidance, or risking being adrift. The art on this deck is very pretty, but I will probably sell it or trade .
Agnes Posted September 5, 2022 Posted September 5, 2022 (edited) @Rachelcat that’s an interesting deck! I have Carding’s Transparent Tarot but have never used it. Does the creator of this deck explain its purpose? What makes this more/better/different than a reading using a regular deck? It’s cool but is there a benefit beyond that? Edited September 5, 2022 by Agnes Fix typo
Rachelcat Posted September 5, 2022 Posted September 5, 2022 @DesertRat, @Bodhiseed, @AnomalyTempest, and @Agnes, I like all the enthusiasm! I guess that 2 of Cups is coming into play! I like a challenge! And trying out different methods of reading, and coming up with my own different methods of reading. One thing using this deck has done for me so far is "making" me read with reversals. I usually don't, because I think it's too complicated and too nebulous, and I'm afraid of reading too negatively. But the goal of getting something different than just one card of each suit for each reading has pushed me there, at least with this deck. I have the Emily Carding Transparent too but never used it. (Maybe another deck of the week!) Someone (sorry I can't remember who) on Aeclectic was like the mad scientist of that Transparent, including reversals and inverses (switching back to front) and all kinds of things! I guess that made me feel inadequate, so I never really tried with it. I don't really know about other advantages. Maybe by the end of the week! See you all later with today's reading. I'm enjoying following along with everyone!
Agnes Posted September 5, 2022 Posted September 5, 2022 Here are yesterday's and today's reading. I think this deck is so pretty but I'm not really clicking with the images as sources of information.
