Really awesome ideas here everyone, keep up the good work!

I love this thread. So many great ideas. I'll be looking for templates for boxes next.

Oh, this great. I used to make a lot of Coptic-bound artist books with slipcovers and boxes, so I have a lot of the equipment. I shall be experimenting.

When making boxes, I would use lining paper, a very light but strong paper, maybe 40-60gsm. If you use PVA glue with it, the paper goes totally limp and wraps beautifully around edges and into corners, then it sort of self-laminates. Many bookbinding papers are already stable printed, so once applied they can be brushed with water-bass satin/matte protective liquids without bleeding.

I finished this box today, after being reminded how nice the Anima Antiqua boxes are. I haven't made a box for years, and the construction method was a bit difficult as this is rather small.

The next attempt will be an everyday use box for my Light Seer's deck.

Thanks, it was nice to work with my hands again in a really enjoyable process!

This thread is so inspiring!! Everyone has made such gorgeous tarot pouches, bags, and boxes here! I felt so inspired, that yesterday I went to my local yarn store and I picked a soft black bamboo yarn to make a on-the-go tarot wrap for my Intuitive Night Goddess Tarot deck and wanted to share how it’s coming along so far! It’s a single crochet, half double crochet, and double crochet patten for texture. I’ll be updating the final result as soon as it’s finished! ♥️

These are ALL lovely.

It's reminded me that I have some fleur-de-lis decorative embroidered fabric lying around not doing anything.

Of course I don't have a tarot deck to put IN it yet, and I'd need to get some red silk or satin to line it with as it's quite a thick, rough fabric and might erode the edges of the cards otherwise, but I might have a go when I finally have some time to myself!

That sounds lovely! I’ve used all sorts of soft scrap fabrics for lining. If you have a look around the home, maybe you’ll find something suitable.

@Raggydoll it's lovely fabric. I bought it to make a lampshade for a relative who's into steampunk, but with the minimum order I had SO much left over. There's not many other scraps of fabric around - my wife would kill me if I used her Kente cloth! Aside from that, I have some blue satin that would clash most horribly with it, some jute that is even coarser, a small amount of black felt and... I think that's it. A bit or red or black satin won't break the bank anyway, and it's easier to use up than the blue stuff.

Sounds like a plan!

In the past I have been known to cut up satin pillow cases for lining material 🙊 We had sometimes been gifted with individual odd sets of satin pillow cases that did not go with any of our other bed sets. So they sat unused until I decided that they would work perfectly for other things 😁 But that’s just me, I know it’s not for everyone!

Upcycling is always a good idea in my book. I often cut up old t-shirts for use in French polishing, as they work much better than paper towels. Don't think I've got any suitable pillowcases though, but the local fabric shop is very reasonable so it probably won't be an issue. I just have to hope they have a suitable black, red or burgundy.

I love the button latches!  So smart.  I'm definitely inspired to go find clothes at a thrift store to make one.  See what fabric calls out to me and practice listening to my intuition.

Achievement of the week: Finished My Wood Box

I am a decades long quilter, a stitcher of various other items and recently dipped my toe into bag making. I make pouches and drawstring bags. If I ever figure out how to post a photo I would like to include some here. But this is only my second post on the forum and I still have no clue how things work! I am inspired and in awe of the creative talent I have seen here.

I'm working on a cloth pattern now for a tarot deck and reading cloth connected.

I know they're out there, but I wanted a larger mat.  And like everything else I work on, i.alwaus find things I need to improve. So I am stuck at the drafting and sample stage.

Also been reworking my leather pouches.  I tend to like them molded, but that only seems to work well with mini and pocket decks.

On top of it all, as if I am not long winded enough, I'm trying to figure out my mom's embroidery machine I've inherited to add tarot stuff to the work.
