How are we doing? Suggestions here!

Can I just point one thing out: I know the poll has not even been up for 24hrs, but so far only 38 out of the 3700 members have voted. That is 1.03%. I think a lot of people might really not be bothered enough about this whole thing.

I do feel a bit bad about it, I feel I poked a hornets nest when I suggested in the subscriber thread to get rid of it. I did not want for people to get upset about this.

Cheer up. I started it years ago. I love your hornet's nest.

I'm going to create another thread for birthday stuff discussion since I had requested we only post here with our Other suggestions, not open discussion.  Hang tight!

What are the mods thoughts on taking TT&M to discord? I understand there’s existing tarot centric servers, but conceptually you guys are doing a better job... it definitely does require an all new set of technical skills, but you can always enlist those within this community to help out with the setup?

PS: it’s free, bigger and especially younger reach, awesome technical options and comparatively user friendly. Not to forget all the fancy roles and emotes.

PPS: it’s NOT your commercial social media. More secure than any website or web based forum.

PPPS: just a suggestion, if you don’t like the idea, don’t take it. Please don’t jump on me like everyone did on Saturn above. It’s simply an innocent suggestion (as requested by the header topic).

There's already a huge tarot discord server out there, which I suspect it's mostly younger folks. Forums tend to run in the older ranges since many of us grew up with them! ❤ (I'm in the middle, I use both)

Thank you for the suggestion! I want to keep people on the forum and don't want to branch out too much and thin the activity. 🙂

Nothing would induce me to go over to discord - even for "fun". The dragon breeding forum I am on has one. I tried it. I see NO point. Why would anyone want to ? As you say - it is all full of emotes and bells and whistles. I like the quiet calm of this place,

And threads are a nightmare.

Nothing personal, @iMoodyCrab. I am just saying that I loathe discord. Everyone else may very well disagree !

@Little Fang

Was wondering what the chances would be of a feature that can conceal spoilers or card reveals when members choose something like A, B or C or 1, 2 or 3 in a general reading - not limited to this either.

Kind of like below in the image.

The black lines have to be double tapped to see what has been concealed as a clue.

For TT and Me - the reader can write the options yet conceal the answers, but give members a chance to choose without seeing the reveals until they actually double click on them. Also, teachers or those running special sessions could use this if they want.

This could be used for anything like spoilers, all kinds of learning or fun games - even threads like: Looking through the Peephole or What Is The Object I am holding.

I'm not 100% sure what you're trying to do but why not just use the spoiler box option?

I believe the spoiler function isn’t visible on mobile view but it’s there on PC view. It’s a neat feature!

Actually the button does seem to have disappeared... (I'm on PC)

ON some forums this works - but it seems not here...

I don't have a lot of functions via mobile phone for this website and am too lazy to use my PCs.

Having said that - I can do it through my phone on other websites.

I may have to change that for TT and Me. 🤔

You are absolutely correct! 👍

I can do it on other websites, but didn't think it existed here.

Now I know. Thanks!

That’s weird. I’m on mobile now so I can’t check, but let’s ping @Little Fang anyway

I'm on the laptop and I haven't seen the spoiler button in a pretty long time.
Are there codes we could use in lieu of the disappearing buttons?

The one I have used elsewhere (and still works on carto, even though they have a button !) is

[spoiler]testing[/spoiler]

It doesn't work on my other invision forum though. Most bbcode doesn't.

Exactly. I remember being lost when I first came here and BB codes didn't work.
It's not whether there's a button or not - this just isn't a BB forum (but you knew that.) But at either type, if we don't have the codes, we have to depend on buttons and that can get dicey.
The codes for the smilies have been immensely helpful. Now if we just knew the others...

It used to be an eye symbol but I can’t remember when I saw it last. I don’t use spoilers myself so I haven’t paid attention to

it.

Well you'll be pleased to see it back!

Yay! Thank you!

@Little Fang

So, is there something that can be typed in manually by mobile phone users to create the spoiler feature.

Before we could do that for bold and colours, but even that has stopped with upgrades. E.g. [b] Spoiler [/b]

Do you see it as bold because it should be, but isn't.

So, what can mobile phone users do to apply some of these basic things really.

I actually use my PCs at home for just Netflix and YouTube...online viewing nothing else. Actually, just one as I still refuse to use the Windows 10 one - it gets updated only although who knows when I will give in.

I actually use my mobile for everything else and have done for about 2 years.

I am not sure if your phone works differently, but if I highlight any word or sentence in my post, then I get up a menu and there is the option for me to make it bold, cursive or underlined.

ETA: I’m not sure what mobile view limitations are due to the platform and not optional for admin to add

The rest is stuff that the Admin (a.k.a. Little Fang) needs to decide whether to enable in mobile view or not. Some things, like color selections and text size, have been limited in the past because we received complaints about how it - when used to a large extent - makes posts difficult to read and how they seem almost spammy in nature. I guess it depends on what theme the person is using too. I believe that one of the big reasons why many people prefer forums over social media is that they like the focus on conversations and also the less stressful environment. I think that is why its generally not appreciated to have to scroll through 'loud' or visually busy posts in the feed. We disabled the option to use capital letters in titles for that same reason too. It came across as pushy and loud.

It was invision that did the upgrade and limited the options; the same is true of the other invision forum I'm on. There are endless complaints about not being able to use bbcode, and about the limitations on mobile devices. Why not select "web page view" if you need it that badly ?

Oh and thanks for the spoiler tag, LF.

Will try that out - the highlighting.

Bold is now up the top in the bar so that was addressed with an upgrade, but before that I had to manually put it in and other things. Didn't mind though.

I get it about the colours and that is fine.

Seems not...image attached highlighting. I use Chrome, but at least I can Copy or Paste.
