Does it not come up when you press the three dots at the end of the menu either? I get more options on my menu that way

Just tried that with the word Hope and touching those three dots...seems not to be the same for me.

 

Also, I am answering on Page 9 because Pages 11 and 12 dont exist for me - keeps coming up with an error message every time I try to enter from page one or 12.

As I posted to your question about this a while ago - it is to do with people you ignore. Their posts don't count in a thread you are viewing, so your version has fewer pages than show in the overall total number. You didn't see that last time I posted it, so you are probably ignoring me - maybe someone could quote this, so that you see it ?

Not sure about that being the case entirely as it has happened with my own reading threads as well and mostly just me writing in them. Different error codes too. I am most definitely not ignoring myself. 

 

Also, this is a new occurrence as it only started in the last month or so.

In case it's my phone I will be doing a full reinstall of it at some point soon even though it is less than a year old only because I do tend use it for mostly everything - 99.5%.

 

Not too worried as at some point the threads are accessible again through the latest post or what have you - so the error messages and not being able to access only last for so many days plus there are ways around it.

 

Has happened on a few new threads as well with just the OP posting and no responses - so it doesn't even have to be a thread that is old.

I had a look at the phone mobile view and I use Samsung browser mostly and there is definitely some text box options missing compared to the desktop version. Here is what it looks like for me....

 

 

 

Edited to add: DND, the spoiler feature is not on mobile. I found I could bold / italics / underline by pressing the button above first and then typing and then pressing it again to turn it off. If I tried to select the text and press anything it kept cutting it off the screen for some reason. I think this might be a Samsung feature of their clipboard system, if you select text and move to click it, it auto moves it to clipboard to be helpful 😮

 

It's great to see the eye and spoiler feature back 😊

In case BBCode is considered deprecated, surely there is some sort of functionality that allows users to format posts, with better features analogous to every single option BBCode provided?

The only forum I am now on that allows any kind of DIY coding is carto. If you think this is bad, wordpress's new interface is a car crash. 

 

To be honest - I can't see that much need for ultra-fancy options. I recall one person in particular on AT who had so many fonts and colours in their posts that it made the threads unreadable  In the end I simply ignored her just so that I could read ! There's someone here who uses so many smilies that I also... but they do't post that much any more.

OK, what I'm talking about isn't BB code, but it might be similar. 

When I want this emote  I can type : rofl : without the spaces and get it. Is there something similar for spoiler, etc.? It would be great not to have to depend on buttons.

The bbcode thing for spoiler doesn't - as I said. And I suspect that code for an image isn't quite in the same class as a code that DOES something (as in hides the text within it.)

Mine looks like that too. Exactly the same! 🙃

 

Will start writing a MUST DO - NO EXCUSES  list and fully reinstall my PC again with Windows 7 and the mobile phone at the same time.

 

Will do it as I need to start on a few things and want to use Windows 7 for what I have in mind which means it needs to be fully reinstalled and 100% clean. May open it to Esoteric and Tarot websites as well, but other than that I do want it kept limited or restricted to a few sites only.

 

But YES - your screenshot is my view to a tee.

True - smilies are almost universally done with a colon.
But the buttons on the bar are inserting some kind of code, too - we just don't get to see it.
Italics, for example - in BB code, it's [i] [/i]. In HTML code, like for blogging, it's <em> </em>.
This board uses neither of those. But it would be helpful to know what kind of code it does use, because then we could look it up.

It seems to be possible to create custom codes - but that's a hell of a load for LF to carry... Go take a look at their community forums... It says:

When I’m on my phone there is no need to use codes for smileys since I use the ones on my phone menu. So it’s fewer clicks than typing a code. When I’m on my pc, it’s still just a click because my most used ones are at the top. 
 

As for the phone menu, I have an iPhone and my screen does not look like that of DanielJUK or DownUnderNZer

 

When I highlight something, I see this:

 

 

obviously it’s in Swedish, but as you probably still can tell, to the right I have a shortcut for bold/italics/underlined. It’s quite handy if you’ve written a long post and your editing something at the bottom of your post. Otherwise I’d just use the top menu.

I have an old Android with a very limited number of smilies and "Copy" as the only option for highlighted text, IIRC. I seldom use it as highlighting text is tricky on the phone.

There's 12 pages of suggestions of which I haven't read all so maybe this was said but 1: maybe a FAQ thread under the Tech forum post and 2: maybe a Layman Tarot forum post thread in which oracle and Lenormand (I don't think I spelled that right) and everything else is briefly explained for anyone new and a member or perusing from google...just a thought.

Thanks for the suggestion! I don’t think we have very many frequently asked questions, to be honest. I suspect that most members here either know the basics, ask question in threads and/or google what they are unsure of. Please feel free to let us know what questions you would have like to seen answered in a FAQ section 🙂

Have you looked at the home page where you get an overview of all the categories? That gives you the traditional forum view. If you are on your phone, you reach it by clicking in the upper right corner and select Forums in the drop down menu
