Tarot & Boxes When it comes to buying or, if say, a person was a collector: A Does a Tarot deck devalue a lot if there isn't any box. B Devalue somewhat if the box has signs of shelf wear or any light wear and tear. Eg Discoloration/Scratches. C Does not lose value if all the cards are there in perfect condition. Box or No box. Been wondering this for a wee while... DND X/

Starting over, Now that I am settled, I have begun re-collecting tarot. Years ago I had a extensive tarot collect, due to major life changes I gave it all away except for 5 decks. Some decks I miss and some decks I don't. I am more careful with what decks I want now, picky picky. There will be ones I will replace over time, but there are ones that I can't due to fact they are now OOP, sad. Some days I regret giving my collection of decks away. Have you ever been in a situation due to circumstances or life events that you either gave or sold off your collection of decks, then to find yourself years later re-collecting? How do you feel about starting over, are …

How could I give free practice readings to people to develop my current abilities more?

I recently came across the concept of birth cards. There are several websites where you type in your birthdate and get 2 cards that represent you. I'm curious if anyone knows the origin of this. Tradition or gimmick? My bday is March 12, 1980 and I got the Lovers and the Devil. I guess I'll take that as a balanced reading! LOL

I don't know how many of you have already heard about the concept of 'Depth Year'. It has become a really popular theme in the tarot community at YouTube lately and many people plan on making this next year their personal version of a Depth Year. (Just do a search for "Depth Year" at YouTube and you'll see ;) ) I want to start out with a short definition of what the Depth Year is, then I will provide some quotes and links at the bottom of this post. My hope is that we could all have a chat about our feelings around this. I also want to mention that for some people this is not the right way to go. Maybe you feel perfectly fine in the stage where you are at - or perhaps…

Just a head's up to anyone who has bought this book in the past, Biddy released the 3rd version of this popular book in it's digital format this week. She seems to be giving previous purchasers a free upgrade to the latest version  The first edition of the book was released in 2001 and second edition 2009, most people would have bought it directly from her website. This week she released the third edition, I had an email offering me to download the new file, so you should have an email with links to get the new version as well. It is offered in pdf, mobi and epub versions. Some people would have bought from the Amazon Kindle store and I presume you would…

I was reading a good article at Llewllyn by Susie Change (of Fortune's Wheelhouse podcasts and book Tarot Correspondences). It reminded me a bit of the Tarot Word Game thread we have here, where a word is sometimes a specific activity, and the next person picks a card to represent that. Here's an excerpt: I enjoyed the article and did a version of a reverse draw, going through and selecting the images that most represented how I was feeling at that moment. I was bit grumpy then, so they weren't the cheeriest. >:D But it was still a fun exercise. Then I drew a random card to contemplate. At the end of the article, I noticed her new course called Living Tarot.…

I just had the most hilarious realization and it confirmed what I was fairly sure the card represented in this reading. Queen of Cups (Wife?) clarified by 5 of Wands (Struggle/conflict) Cockney rhyming slang: “Trouble and Strife” = “Wife”. And there we have it, haha! I also had 5 of Pents once to represent a dysfunctional time clock.

I'm leaning more and more towards this myself. I know the minors and court cards, even Ace's have their place, it the Major Arcana's I find myself only drawn to towards answering the question, the metaphors and even the numerical values with their numerical partners. Numbers are very important to me, but not so much with the minors. I feel a master can advise more clearly that that's the way to be what you are, that's the spiritual exercise you have to do better with the Majors.

Hi all! A question: Does anyone else have the “Infamous Dollar Tree Tarot” deck? I was lucky enough to get one years ago from someone on another forum but I’ve always wondered...there are Aces but no pips 2-7. Only 8-10, then Royals and Majors. Is this a defective set, or is the deck just so weird and cheesy that all of them were made that way? I actually really like the illustrations on it and have considered making my own missing pips, since the artwork would lend itself pretty well to that.

So I was shuffling my new oracle deck today and a card fell out from it? Does this card have a significance for me? I had read somewhere that cards that drop from the deck while shuffling carry a message with them for the reader...not sure if it is true? Please help understand this

Do you let other people use your decks? I generally don't.

Hi, all! I recently read Ruth Ware's thriller The Death of Mrs. Westaway (which was really enjoyable, I recommend it!). The main character is a professional tarot reader and the book is rife with tarot symbolism, as well as lots of meditation about tarot's power from a skeptical perspective, which I appreciated a lot. It reminded me that at one point years ago I ran across a Young Adult novel called Andromeda Klein https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/10863462-andromeda-klein that I had enjoyed, and got me thinking about other fiction involving tarot. I know lots of people really love the Raven Cycle, and Stiefvater made an accompanying tarot deck that's really p…

Gregory sent me some loose cards for my patchwork decks project (Thank Yu!) but a couple are not identified. Can anyone help with these (descriptions only for now, photos later if we're all really stuck) There's a single card from a deck which has an outstanding back design showing a little boy in a space suit floating above a planet, with xmas parcels floating about? The card is 18 - has a lot of xmas themed symbols, boy in space helmet making a snowman, I'm thinking this is some specific xmas themed deck but I don't know it. Anyone? There are 2 cards from a deck with a William Morris type fabric print as the back design. Very much fine art painting style to the f…

l know this deck of Chiro's has been out for a long while. it was always at the back of my mind to investigate it but never got round to it. That is until now. Suddenly had this urge to look at the Youtube reviews to see if the cards peaked my interest. Well they did, and l wanted a closer look at them in real life. l managed to get a brand new deck and book for a very reasonable price. Wow! is all l can say, the book and Chiro's story is wonderful l had to read his story twice. The meeting he had with Gianluca Colombo de Savoy was so well written l could believe it really happened, though obviously it was based on his dream. The cards are amazing, there is someth…

Very simple really. I was wondering if anyone here uses tarot and video games or as a video game. Personally I use them for games in which I have to select a character to play such as a fighting game or a game such as League of Legends. And if you do use them for video game how do you use them? I love my Grand Etteilla! The art, the whole tall dark stranger vibe, the extra cards... Can you tell me if Grand jeu de l Oracle des Dames is just another name for basically the same deck? I'm doing something really difficult and want to reward myself...

I know some cards have more than one meaning. My wife did a reading this morning and she believes that a certain person is going to die. I am trying to figure out if she is correct.
