Searching through the forum, over the years we have had posts about members reversals techniques, but can't find a thread about shuffling. So if you use reversed cards in your readings..... How do you shuffle them in your practice? How do you decide how many to have in the deck? This the place for all reversed shuffling methods and techniques ๐ There is a guide to shuffling techniques generally, here - https://www.thetarotforum.com/forums/topic/15717-shuffling-techniques/

I used to like to get readings, back in the day. But now at closing in at 73, some chronic conditions, and pretty isolated (although I have some great friends locally, my best friend is a retired ER doc, which comes in handy), there's no reading I can see being great. What would I ask to be read on? So it's not that I think there are not great readers out there, I DO, it's that I KNOW there are and there isn't anything I want to know. Does anyone else not really want to be read for for any reason?

Do others choose decks to use, based on season or based on feelings at the time? Also any good deck recommendations for this time of year winter? I'm using wild wood tarot at the moment.

Hello everyone! I've been wandering for a while how other people prepare a reading besides the usual stuff we all know and do (you know, cleansing cards, setting a place, lighting a candle, burning incense, playing some nice music on the background, etc). I've noticed readers on Youtube and other places that have a song or phrases for their querents based on their "reading preparation", and I'm puzzled... doing that for a querent is quite a nice thing. Do you do something similar? How do you do it?

First off, I put this thread in Tarot talk & technique because I would like to discuss our favorite tarot techniques, decks and spreads for spirit readings, not spirit work in general. So I hope the thread is permitted to stay in this area, since I think it will be seen by more people and it wonโt push this type of tarot practice into a specialized corner. It is my opinion that lots of valuable tarot lessons and techniques are born from this type of work. We shall see if anyone else agrees ๐ Secondly, when I say spirit readings, I refer to any type of reading where the individual(s) are not alive. This includes ancestral readings, mediumship readings, spirit …

If you can travel back in time and give your beginner self only one advice, what would that be? Note that this only has to apply to you - advice that works for one may not do much or may even be counter-productive for another

Hi, I struggle with coming up with the "correct verbiage" when it comes to asking/posing a question in Tarot readings? Any suggestions/input/advice is welcome and appreciated... Any examples of questions are welcome..like, comparing "muddled question" to rephrasing it kind of example Thank you in advance! ๐ edit: I always think of Rodney (I think it was Rodney) who said "garbage in garbage out" to some of the questions posed (I believe it was my post and he was helping out); it always makes me smile and I try to keep what he said in mind, but still struggling..

For many years, my main deck when reading for others has been the Druidcraft. But I'm now wondering whether to choose a new 'working' deck (or decks), especially one that I could take out and about, if needed. Pros I find the Druidcraft very easy to read I like the artwork and the 'hard cards' aren't too scary for those unfamiliar with tarot It's easy to replace if it gets damaged while reading in-person or while I'm carrying it around in my bag (still in print, mass-market and affordable where I live) It fits my personal values Cons There's some nudity in it, including a few full-frontal cards The artwork could be mo…

I am intrigued, what's your reading process? From getting ready, to shuffling, to working on the cards. Do you have any rituals or methods you always do? Are there some parts that are personally important when you work on your readings?

If any of you get paid for readings, how much do you charge? My mum suggested that perhaps this could get me through college, instead of waiting tables or working at a grocery store. And I have sold a few readings through etsy. But I have charged 1 or 2 dollars, and I have given really in depth readings (up to 800 words written reply) and allowed for follow up questions. I have had to limit it to one follow up question, because some costumers really have asked so many follow up questions, that I have worked for over 3 hours on one purchase, for 1 dollar. Then, I'd do better working at a store. So it's hard work, too, when people really...Uh, do you in english have t…

I've been thinking a lot about intuition and I'd like to know what works for you, whether you are naturally highly intuitive or struggle(d) to get there. Basically I have three areas I'm curious about: 1.) What, if any, are the things you do (methods/rituals/set-ups, etc.) that help you access your intuition, or put you in the headspace to do so? 2.) What have you found to help you trust your intuition? 3.) What kind of tarot decks or imagery do you feel you can more easily read intuitively? And/or, conversely, what kind do you look at and say, "Nope, won't be able to read intuitively with this deck!" Thanks in…

Have you ever tried to read the Tarot while you were either drunk or high on drugs? How was it overall? How did it feel like? Were the results accurate? I've never tried doing it drunk and I've never done drugs, so I'm very much curious about the experiences of those who explored the cards while under the influence of either (or even both).

I picked up a Deckcolor Opaque Black broad-line marker at the suggestion of a local art store clerk . I wish to edge my hand-trimmed travel Thoth. I'm wondering if any of you can share experiences or suggestions to make the process go smoother for me. For example, should I clamp the deck and do the full sides at once, or should I edge each card one at a time? I don't mind either way -- I just want to be effective. The cards have been clipped with a corner rounder and are not trimmed perfectly even Thanks

Disclaimer: do not read on if you are likely to become upset when contemplating your own demise. We have been talking about this in my coven, as none of us are getting any younger... We were talking about all our magical tools and books and bits and pieces, many of which are rare, antique or special, and what might happen to them when we are no longer here. We have discussed having a โmagical executorโ who could deal with all the stuff separately from other bequests. Some of us who are authors and scholars will bequeath papers to various museums and archives; some of us have made specific bequests to loved ones and magical colleagues.…

I did a past, present, future spread yesterday for 'my relationship with X' and the cards I pulled for past and present are, for lack of a better term, 'wrong'. Without getting into specifics, because this is intended as technique and how to approach this, my relationship with this person has not been good, and currently is not good. The cards that came up were showing a positive relationship, for past, present and future. Who knows what the future holds so I won't automatically discredit that one, but past and present definitely did not reflect the reality of how things have been and currently are. I can't see any way of these cards reflecting th…

I am a newbie in this area and Tarot cards and Tarot reading intrigues me greatly. I have collected so many decks already. But I don't think I am very intuitive. Some pictures speak to me but some absolutely don't. Like the King card of all the four suits seem no different to me from each other. They seem to me like they have the same expression on their face. And what else am I looking into these cards to see what they are saying? I was looking at doing one of online tarot classes and I read someone commenting that "if your tarot reader tells you that they got into tarot reading after doing one of these classes, then you turn around and run" and that comment kind of hav…

I think this is the right place for this discussion - Mods please feel free to move it if you need So I just recently came across the idea of a 'depth year' - thank you Raggydoll - and it chimes with me as we have been downsizing and enjoying our remaining possessions more for a couple of years already - since we moved house. Nothing hidden away in the loft for example (apart from tree decorations for Yule) - if we don't look at it and love it, why have it? Even the idea of restricting my buying of decks - I've bought less than a dozen this year, and they were nearly all second hand decks which I felt I missed first time round. But I do have a lot of d…

I've been going back through a cabinet of my Lo Scarabeo decks recently, and I've noticed something regarding the attributions on the boxes and LWBs -- there is frequently an author or writer who receives "top" or first billing/crediting -- then (sometimes in smaller print, or further down the page) there's an artist listed. And in some instances, there's also a "designer" or someone credited with graphics in addition to the artist. I'm very curious about how the Lo Scarabeo deck-creation process works, or has worked (as most of my LS decks are at least ten years old). Does one person create a script for the cards, essentially writing out what should take plac…

What are some fun, casual spreads/questions to ask the tarot? I'm looking for some more practice I can do daily, but I don't want to do the draw one card a day business. I'm thinking 1-3 card spreads (maybeeee 4, but that is stretching it a bit), something light. And none of that morning, noon, evening type spreads. Those just don't interest me at all. Any suggestions?

Hi, all! I'm having trouble with a few of my decks warping badly, even though they're new and only recently acquired. One is my beloved Sakki-Sakki deck, which i just got in November. The other is the Instant Archetypes deck which is a brand-new deck that was only printed and shipped in December. Here's what it looks like already, even though it's barely been out of the box: I googled and found these AT threads about warping... http://www.tarotforum.net/library/16/2003-05/warped-cards-how-can-i-unwarp-them-20030516.shtml https://www.tarotforum.net/showthread.php?t=195659 ...but they're full of suggestions that don't seem to apply โ most of my decks are …

I am curious how the energy works in the cards when you are reading for someone else and you are the one doing the shuffling. How does the energy of that person work? Would it not be your energy or do you think about what the person is asking as you are shuffling the deck? I know this might sound ridiculous but it is something that I am a little confused about as a beginner?

A lot of times the people I read for have 'when' related questions- When will they get married or when will they hear back from the job thingy? And I find it hard to deduce that. I know some people use the numbers in the cards or the astrology aspects to answer that. Does that work accurately in anyone's experience? Would love to hear if anyone has a technique of reading these.

Hello! Relatively new to the forum, but just curious how you guys charge/cleanse your tarot decks! To cleanse, I turn all of the cards upright and meditate with them. If I have time, I'll wave them over some pine or sandalwood incense and store a crystal (clear quartz, smoky quartz or black tourmaline) on them. To charge, I put some moldavite, herkimer diamond, Satyaloka clear azeztulite quartz, or a crystal that correlates with the type of reading I want to do. Sometimes, I'll make a crystal grid with my deck in the center. What do you all do?

I copied and pasted what I wrote in my Journal this morning, Today's card is the Four of Wands ~ The card indicates an early celebration of some sort. We have two ladies holding up flowers in the air. Yesterday I called a local senior center located near me and asked them if they would like to have a tarot reader (me) read & entertain their group. The person I talked to told me that they were currently doing a music program, but she would give my number to the president which I gave her. She also told me that if I was entertaining that they network with all the senior centers in the area that I could do ALL the senior centers in the area. COOL> …

Hi everyone just a quick one how do you keep your cards? In a silk cloth, or wooden box or a material pouch, whatโs best please?
