If you were an artist and were to create your own deck, how important would tarot card symbolisms be?

Hi – new member here, posting for the first time. Please advise if you think I am doing something unethical or not. I have occasionally made my own copies of OOP decks that retail for many hundreds of dollars – if I ever win the lottery I plan to go back and buy any available of these real decks, but barring that unlikely occurrence I will never be able to afford them. In the meantime, I have downloaded pictures of the cards and printed them at home. The resulting deck is obviously a copy and would fool no one into thinking it is an original. Not only would it fool no one, but no one even sees it. I live alone, read only for myself, and have no tarot-enthusias…

What are YOUR favorite travel decks? Going to Hawaii May 29 for a month. Yes, I'm THAT person who plans my luggage 2 months in advance [helps me pack light]. I'm thinking I will bring Centennial RWS in a tin and Eduard Dotti by Valenza. I may get some client readings and this covers both bases for RWS and Pip deck. Both are small and easy to pack. Both are replaceable should Something Bad happen. Centennial in a tin went to India with me twice ... so it's a seasoned traveller 😉 What are YOUR fave travel decks?

I absolutely love the Spiral tarot but am wondering if anyone knows if Kay Steventon is still in the community and if the deck can make a comeback without borders and full size? I would buy it in a minute. I keep it in my travel altar kit trimmed. Please, I'm calling out to US Games to re-release as a full size borderless deck. What do you think about this absolutely gorgeous deck?

This software for desktops has been around a long time, but I'm only just trying to learn it https://orphalese.net/ I've been making my own cards and wanted to get a start at uploading before it is too big of a job. So far I haven't figured out how to do that, but hopefully I will before too long. This isn't a tarot deck, so won't have 78 cards, or go by structure names. A couple of questions, have any of you deck artists uploaded you in progress cards rather than a whole deck? And as a general subject do you have the software and enjoy using it? Thanks, Sharyn

It seems I've devised a plan for 2026. My absolutely top desired deck is The Tarot of Echoes by Ana Tourian . Picture for reference. It is limited to 750, out of print, and was supposed to go to Mass Market, first in 2024, and now by this year. I'm not holding my breath as publishers are a fickle lot and anything can change. It's already October on that note. So I've devised a realistic way to acquire a used copy, which currently run about $350 on eBay when one appears. I am going to continue my goal of eating healthier. Each day I do not buy junk food of any kind, I will put $1 into a fund. At the end of the year, If I have maintained a stron…

I have a follow up question for GreatDane's thread https://www.thetarotforum.com/tarot-decks/past-the-speed-limit-then-hitting-the-braikes!-decks/msg71203/?topicseen#new where the questions was if you have any decks that you utterly fell in love with when you saw them advertised, but then when you finally had them in your hands, did not really got on with. Your HIT THE BREAK decks. No zing,no spark, no connection. I have at least one, the Tarot of the Zirkus Magi, utterly loved it when I saw it online, still loved it in the Fool's Dog app, read the book about the Clown, when it arrived I flipped through the cards and was "meh". I did a few daily draws, it just did no…

I was looking for some decks that feature the 72 angels of the Shemhamphorash and I came cross these pics. It's quite maddening since I can see them in a lot of sites but I don't have any clue as to which deck they are from, or if they're just a collection of unpublished images:

It does not seem like Schiffer/Red Feather will be releasing a lot of new decks soon, but their latest catalog is useful for checking all of the decks that they previously published which are still available. You can check it out HERE.

So, my Mom's birthday is coming up and this is the first since her husband (I refuse to call the man father) passed in December. Mom is what I would describe as a New Age-y Christian white witch. Mom used to be into the tarot before B, and she stopped because he insisted it was demonic or some bs. She has squeed over my Tarot and oracle collection, and I wish I could afford to get her the one I know she would love (The Last Unicorn deck but $100 is outside my budget lol). I remember when I was 15 and we went to Salem while visiting family, she went into all the witchy shops and cooed over the tarot decks and oracles. I asked why didn't she get one and she got this look an…

Hi everyone! I'm looking for my first and possibly only deck. I've been looking around and the "Star Spinner", "Tarot of the Divine", and "Linestrider" are the ones that most call to me at the moment. However before I make a decision on who's coming home with me (I really can't afford more than one), are there any others with a similar vibe to those? I'd like to know all my options before choosing.

I've had my eyes on this deck for months and finally got the money to pay for it today. I love masculine decks and this one will satisfy me for a long time! Here is the google link to many of the images, the name of the deck is St Jinx Tarot. https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&tbm=isch&q=st+jinx+tarot&backchip=online_chips:jinx+art&chips=q:st+jinx+tarot,online_chips:divine+masculine&usg=AI4_-kRzhEWH3EH5mBlOSqT0DXIc5b2O7g&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjDjbPz5rThAhVuUt8KHeXuASoQ4VYIKCgB&biw=2560&bih=1308&dpr=1 Here is the company page https://www.makeplayingcards.com/sell/stjinxtarot And his deviant art page https://www…

Anyone use this deck here? It's one of my favorites, especially for fall! It's full of the oranges & browns of fall, countered by a moonlit blue (pretty much all of the cards follow one or the other of these colour schemes). I find it reads like the cards are reversed most of the time, so the imagery of a brighter-meaning card can be the shadow side, while a usually darker card may be showing the silver lining. This makes is a bit harder to read if you usually meld the by-the-book stuff with what you see, but if you use it intuitively, it's very powerful!

Do you have any decks that you use specifically for business/career/financial queries? It may be because the theme or aesthetic of the deck seems so apt for these concerns, or because they just happen to be very accurate or easily readable when you use them on these kinds of questions. I find myself making more and more readings on these kinds of issues, so I'm curious about the decks that others use. Maybe I'd get some of these myself. ;)

The Lightseer's Tarot As previously mentioned, I received this deck for Winter Solstice December last. My first impression was very positive. Here is, what I initially wrote: Quoting myself here in the unboxing thread: The Light Seer's Tarot arrived!♥ A very sturdy box that survived the trip into the bush without any dents!♥ It fits the cards quite snug, but it is still easy to take them in and out. ♥ the card sized booklet is about 1 cm thick, has sturdy pages and fits well into said box.♥ The cards are amazing! A mat finish but still, the colours pop and there is no sticking ♥ The card pack thick -…

Right now, a very interesting hashtag is making the rounds on TaroTube: #editorspickdecks. I have watched some of the videos with this hashtag, not all of them, and I think we can extend the idea to the written word and give the word to those of us who don't have a YouTube platform. You can, of course, pick and choose what kind of deck you recommend - you don't have to answer all 15 questions. But this might be an interesting starting point for people looking for deck recommendations. If enough people participate and give their answers, I'll turn it into a list with links, if that's okay. Why should YouTube have all the fun? The prompts …

I first owned this deck when it was a new publication. I didn't use it much because frankly, it's been a learning challenge and I've just been caught up in so much else over the years that I didn't have time or energy to really devote myself to it. At one point, I lost my deck in a storage fiasco and only recently have been able to get another. What I'm wondering is if there are others here who use the deck. I asked on another forum and didn't get much response. I think maybe the deck is more of a collectible because of its innovative and unusual nature but that it might also present a challenge to other readers so they haven't delved into it much. Is there a…

I'll start. This one is pricey, but there's obviously a lot of work behind it and it looks lively, like it might be a fun deck. One of the creators is a circus performer, so I'm sure that lends an interesting perspective. There's only three left, so if you want it, act fast: https://www.etsy.com/listing/697096776/the-tarot-of-why-original-hand-drawn Created and designed by by artist, poet and clown R. Campbell while touring the world with Cirque du Soleil And Teatro ZinZanni in North and South America, Europe and Japan. Long time no post from me, but that doesn't mean that I don't think about Tarot. On the contrary, I'm gearing up to make a full inventory of my collection very soon. In light of this - and also as a result of my recently discovered interest in puppet-making and puppet theatre - I'm turning my mind to the work of Elisabetta Cassari. Incidentally, Cassari had an interest in puppet theatre, as per this Manteia article https://www.arnellart.com/manteia/articles/ar01-cassari.htm, and made puppets (?). They also feature in her Tarot drawings. I gather she published three decks:`Solleone Tarot` (1983), `Gli Arcani di Elisabetta` (1986) and `Future Solleone Tarot` (1987). And she…

I discovered that the tarot shop in the capital sells the OOP (according to AT at least) Chinese Tarot. Stock moves slow, it seems? I saw it mentioned on the Most Beautiful Decks-thread and since my resolution this year for deck buying includes buying more indie decks and mass produced decks from local shops I'm very intrigued by this one. If you have it, how does it read? Do I need to be a proper wiz in Chinese culture and history to use this deck?

I remember being utterly obsessed with the film "The Last Unicorn" and terrified of the red bull thing :-\ i was scrolling through old kickstarter tarot projects and came across this (its now available for preorder on backerkit) I don't really remember much of the film (apart from one song that for the last 14 years has been stuck in my head!), but I'm quite tempted to relive a childhood fave?! although its definitely not the cheapest deck. Im not sure if the cards shown are mockups, or just showing the concepts...but the card stock looks questionable? or perhaps the image + no rounded corners just doesn't do it justice? What does everyone think? I hope someon…

I am being very generous here, I am not asking for i.e. only 3 decks, which are the 15 decks that you would never get rid of no matter what (as of now). It gives an indication about who which decks cherishes the most, which kind of decks you prefer. So I am starting it (in no particular order); Jolanda tarot Crimson Asteria Ingesrid Blakstad's Marcel Ruijters Daniloff …
