Here is one of my smaller spreads that has a less-sprawling narrative behind it. It was created a few of months ago during the last budget crisis, so the climate addressed by the example reading has changed some. I could see using it to vet news stories. AUTHOR'S NOTE: Whenever I see a post that purports to fact-check some controversial occurrence, I immediately become suspicious that the supposedly impartial investigator has a private agenda that is being served by facts specifically "groomed" to support the objective, a hunch that is usually borne out by the demonstrated bias of the platform on which the reporting appears. Here is an experimental spread that …

Here is another new spread based on an historical model: the Celtic triskelion. It also uses a traditional convention that I borrowed from the "quintessence" calculation of the tirage en croix, or French Cross, spread. When there aren't four card preceding it, I call it the "numerical essence." AUTHOR’S NOTE: Here is a concise spread that is aimed at exploring the general characteristics, consequences and dynamics of a new human contact or other opportunity that has recently entered (or is about to enter) the seeker’s life. (If it addresses a situation rather than a specific individual, those attributes will reflect the querent’s own experience of the occurrence.…

Here is one of my more recent creations based on the ten-card tetractys spread that can be used in two ways: to get a straightforward "do it/don't do it/think about it" answer, read only the top six cards concluding in a three-card line; for the more philosophical "rest of the story," add the bottom four lines. I tend to be thorough in my approach to divination, so when reading the cards “on the clock” in a professional setting I often have insufficient time to address more than the high points of the scenario and answer a few parting questions. This is the “tip of the iceberg” effect that disappears when operating remotely (for which I prefer email) because in t…

I have been searching Aeclectic up and down for a spread that I can´t find again. It was made of all 78 cards and spread out on the floor in the shape of a person. Two pictures was taken, one on the upper part of the "person" and one on the lower part. Is there anyone of you "old" Aeclectic members that remember this spread or at least have seen it?

Hi all. I spent $20 USD for a love/soulmate reading and I got a reading that focused more on feelings. It felt very basic to me. I was wondering what your interpretations would be of these cards? (I had to ask for the cards). I can post the reading if anyone asks.

I’ve seen a few “best beginner spread”, but what would you consider to be the spreads that every beginner should work on to learn the ropes?

Hi, I am really stressed at my current job. Management changes in past 6 months have lead to it becoming more unstable and toxic by the minute. I applied/interviewed for another job and awaiting interview results (very anxiously to say the least). Is there a small career/finances related Spread (smaller the better) anyone recommends? I only read for myself and look for guidance from cards. Obviously, interview is already done and I could simply wait for the results in next week or so which (waiting without feeling on the edge/anxious) is really hard to do 😄 Thanks! ❤️

Ikigai is a Japanese concept. It means the joy of purpose, a place of fulfilment where our talents come to fruition and we feel that we're doing what we were meant to be. In order to find our own Ikigai sweet spot, there are different aspects to consider. The first four basic questions are: What do you love? What are you good at? What does the world need? What can you get paid for? I call this the first layer. Where two of these areas overlap, four opportunities arise: Profession, Vocation, Passion and Mission. Let's call this the second layer. Seeing them laid out on the diagram was enlightening for me. It's difficult t…

Welcome to your New World! The Solstice is a powerful time for transformation whether you are moving into light or dark. Shall we pause and honor this in between time as we shift from one cycle to the next. This reading can be part of honoring this marker of change. What lessons can we harvest? What bounty can we celebrate? What can we release? What do we wish to call in?

Today (the 25th of May) is World Tarot Day! It's a day that was started in 2003 by Den Elder founder of the International Society Helping Tarot, to celebrate Tarot in it's diversity and promote it! Also today is World Towel Day, a day to celebrate The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and Douglas Adams. Back on Aelectic, @Nisaba created a spread especially for this day and covering both things. She would start a thread discussing it every year, like this one from 2010 here. So I wanted to bring her spread over here, so we have a record of it. This was the original thread of her creation here. I think it was posted sometime in the 2000's. I…

I was looking through an old topic on Tarot spreads and @Nemia wrote something that piqued my interest in a different direction: @Nemia said <<Personally, I prefer to milk a small number of cards for what they're worth instead of pulling a lot of cards. But I've seen people work very well with big spreads. It's not for me, I'm easily overwhelmed 😉 >> This got me wondering about other people here ... Do YOU like large spreads with many cards? Small spreads? Medium? I define large as anything more than 10 cards. I dislike large spreads ... BUT ... I often end up reading with a lot of cards ... it's situational f…

✨🌑✨ Since Sunday night/Saturday night is the New Moon and we are starting a new month, I thought that we could play with a spread that rides those energies. New Moon energy can affect us in two ways. Because the Moon governs our emotional body, our feelings and needs are surfacing. Think of the Rider-Waite-Smith XVIII image of the ‘Moon’ with the lobster creature climbing up out of the water. The Sagittarius archetype supports cultivating a relationship with the Divine. How can we trust that things will work out and that there is always a higher purpose to all that occurs in our lives? (Position 1) Sagittarius energy is fast moving …

The number of unique permutations of a Gypsy spread is thought to be around 1.3048 x 10^31. That is a big number. It is larger than the estimated number of stars in the observable universe. If each permutation was represented by a hydrogen atom, the ball of permutations would be so big that it would extend beyond our solar system. In terms of time, if you were able to draw a spread every second, it would take you longer than the life of the universe to-date to cover every permutation. The number is so big that even if you estimate that there have been 2 billion decks printed (an over estimate). If you then estimate that every deck managed to pull 5…

Does anyone have any good said for fall? If it was posted before, sorry I didn't find it in a search. I found one so far in an Oracle Reading book.

I have a querent who is a lady in her 50s who has been looking for a house in town for five years, I told her that I read the tarot, and we had a brief conversation about tarot cards & readings. I didn't have my cards with me, but I said that the next time I saw her I would do a reading for her. How would you approach a question like this? What kind of spread would you use? I'll be seeing her in a few weeks so I will have time to prepare for the reading. Thanks for your help!

This spread is designed to help us to get in touch with our true heart’s desires. This is Card No. 6 — the Outcome card. Sometimes it is an extension of what we think we want — Card No. 1. Sometimes it is something a little different. Our interactions with others and the world (Cards No. 2 and 3) and our actions out in the world (Cards No. 4 and 5) can help reveal one of our heart’s desires. Special Thanks to @Misterei for the inspiration to develop this spread.

Hi ! Here is interesting tarot spread we can use, so we align some good eastern divination systems with Tarot. We talked about it in another topic, so here is what one can do to use it in practice. First we need 6 positions. For that we set 6 cards we set one by one from bottom to top. We count odd cards as Plus/Yang/Unbroken Line. We count even cards as Minus/Yin/Broken Line. So 5 of wands - yang line as its odd. Magician - again yang line as also odd(1). 4 of cups - yin broken line, as its even. That means if its odd card we write unbroken line. If its even card we write broken line. We don't shuffle the deck once first card is set. Then we write line by…

For many years, I've tried to do a yearly spread (once a year) to see what the tarot has to say about what lies ahead. However, I have NEVER found a satisfactory way to do this. Just pulling 12 cards, one for each month, never works for me. By never works, I mean it has NEVER given me anything useful at all—not even the first month. Frustrating. I am very open to suggestions here. If you can see your year ahead successfully, what is your method? Last year I tried something new. I used three decks. I pulled 12 cards from each deck, so each 'month' got three cards. Nope. Not even close. Aaargh....

This one kind of developed naturally, thought I'd share it. Any two decks can be used: I went with my personal RWS and my pocket sized Travel / Client RWS. Path to Growth Spread Deck one: Card 1 (top center): The growth -- The challenge to overcome or positive to integrate: Deck two: Cards 2,3,4 The path– steps to take towards accomplishment, guidance Deck two: Card 5 (bottom, horizontal): The saboteur -- That which may cross or attempt to hinder progress. adjust to taste, and tell us if you try it!

Lo Scarabeo put up this spread for "interviewing" a new deck of cards. I have several new ones and I want to try it. Had anyone done this said before? If so what were your impressions? I'll probably do this over the weekend when I have more time.

Feedback, comments and questions are welcome. April 8 just happens to be this super cosmic day in terms of astrology, so why not play with that energy? Some of you are in an area where the sun will be eclipsed totally or partially mid-afternoon. We will not see a total solar eclipse again for twenty years in this part of the world. According to Michelle Bell, founder of the astrology app ‘Cosmic Fusion’, “The solar eclipse amplifies the new moon energy, marking it as a time of significant change, unexpected developments, and powerful revelations that can redirect our life paths.” We entered Mercury Retrograde on April 1. Mercury Retro…

As per the title. I always thought deck interviews were silly ... and never got good results anyway. But i wish to give it another go with Triunfi della Luna deck. I've already used that deck quite a few times sans interview ... and get really inconsistent results ... sometimes it just HITS ... other times no. Usually a deck is 90% hits or 90% misses (and it goes to thrift store). I've never had a deck that was 50/50. Bunch of deck interviews on the internet, of course ... but this is a more discerning group. Your faves?
