I thought I’d yammer a bit about my deck categories. I hope it is interesting or fun to somebody. (And it might be my topic for my tarot society presentation in July . . .) I’m at 379 decks in my collection, which includes tarots, oracles, and historical reproduction playing cards, as of this minute, with 7 of those being on preorder. (Can’t resist a Llewellyn coupon . . .) I love organizing things (on paper at least), so I’ve categorized my decks as systems and themes. Systems are tarots and oracles that follow a definite pattern, like minchiates, 72 angels, or 64 I Ching hexagrams. Themes are more about things that aren’t a set system, like …

The Playful Heart Tarot is one of the decks I would have loved to have! I keep going back to KittenChops' website to look at it and sigh. Today, I saw that the artist is considering bringing back this deck. She asks people who would be interested in buying it to give her feedback, subscribe to her newsletter and give her an idea of how many decks to print. I did so immediately, and if you are interested, maybe you wish to do the same? It's a unique deck, done in watercolours, and it's wonderful to see a deck without AI. Her Marseilles-based Pipspeak Tarot looks wonderful as well. Her style reminds me of the children's book illustrati…

How important is the colours in a deck for you while you are doing a reading? For example: The Magician will have a black robe or the Empress will have a purple dress. Will you even notice that? Most of the times the colour is saying something in the interpretation of the cards. So if the deck is black and white, much of the feelings will be very lame for me.

Someone on a Discord server I am in asked if any of us had the Marcella Krolls Dreamers Tarot. She wanted to know what the book had to say about the Judgment and Tower cards as she has apparently lost her booklet. Since there are so many collectors here I thought I'd ask for them. Edited for a mistake and to add information.

Just a question. I bought a black and white deck recently - just a little Chinese cheapie which looked cute and probably AI - and a review I later found said it was a knock-off copy of a coloured one called the Leisurely Cat Tarot. I found that on etsy - sold out - but I suspect that was also a knock-off as the etsy seller refers to a QR code on the box that doesn't work. I've looked all over and all I can find is that the artist MAY be called Irtush. Does ANYONE know who created it - or anything else about it ? Image of the coloured one clipped from etsy:

Hello friends, whom I have been ignoring for at least months... don't think it is years. I think of TDM as my home base, especially a Conver version. And I've finally managed to make some progress with Thoth. But lately, I find myself going back to good ol' RWS... RWS has been my daily driver for a while. I have dozens of great TDM decks... I have not dozens, but tens (?) of mind-blowing art decks. I don't have a great RWS deck. I have ones I like, I have ones that talk to me.. but not one that makes me (and it, I hope) feel special and spiffy. They're all mass market. So.... FINALLY! The point of…

I'm always a day late and a dollar short, as the saying goes, but we're on "skunk watch" so I was just quietly surfing around on Amazon and ran across two decks I couldn't talk myself out of. After arguing with myself that I don't need any more decks and oh yes I do need just two more I finally ordered them and they're due to be here on Tuesday. One is the Arcane Tarot and the other is the Grim Tale Tarot. I absolutely have to have these two new decks! The Arcane and the Grim Tales are very necessary to carry me through the ordeal of the skunk watch and the moving of three houses. Anyway, does anyone else have these decks? If so, what do you th…

Hello, everyone What was your love at first sight deck? Mine was the Tarot of Mermaids. The background colors are so beautiful , and I love the way the artwork just seems to flow - it's the perfect deck for a Pisces like me! http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/mermaids/

Right now, a very interesting hashtag is making the rounds on TaroTube: #editorspickdecks. I have watched some of the videos with this hashtag, not all of them, and I think we can extend the idea to the written word and give the word to those of us who don't have a YouTube platform. You can, of course, pick and choose what kind of deck you recommend - you don't have to answer all 15 questions. But this might be an interesting starting point for people looking for deck recommendations. If enough people participate and give their answers, I'll turn it into a list with links, if that's okay. Why should YouTube have all the fun? The prompts …

For me, it's the Universal Waite I got about 13 years ago in a trade on AT. I traded an edition of the Bohemian Gothic (remember the printing that some decks had red spots? I got TWO of them) for a Universal Waite deck, the one that was printed in Belgium. It was used, but in good shape. I LOVE the Bohemian Gothic, I now have a first edtion and would never trade it. BUT the one actual deck I've had the longest, UNI WAITE. I had decks before that, but they were traded away.

The discussion of Tarot decks would be incomplete if we ignore the part of it which shares almost half of its total surface area: its back! So share all the Tarot backs that move you: the ones you love and the ones you find distasteful. Post those which are out of this world, which even the people here know very little of, or which you simply are very curious about. If you can, try to post pics, alright? :)

What do you think of majors-only Tarot decks? Which are your favorites? How many do you have in your collection, and how often do you use them? I know that there are some Tarot books that focus solely on the majors, but I wonder how decks like these are often used by my fellow readers. I know that they're useful for meditation and pathworking. I believe that there are also some spreads in which only majors are used.

Hi, everyone What's the most disappointing deck that you ever bought? Mine is Tarot of the Old path. The majors are pretty, but the Minors are "meh"; I was disappointed in their lack of background imagery.

EVER had a deck that the cardstock was the deal breaker? You liked the deck, maybe loved it, but either were afraid to shuffle it or had trouble shuffling? I just had one that the cardstock was the deal breaker for me and I thought it was a GREAT deck. The Star Tarot by Cathy McClelland. The original Majors deck. BEAUTIFUL and, while the cards are HUGE, not what made me move it along. In fact, they were so gorgeous in the large size. The cardstock was pulling apart along the edges and that was just me going through them a few times and LOOKING at them, not shuffling. It would never had stood up to being a reading deck for me.

Right now, mine is probably the Aquarian. Love the deck, but I have a few I gravitate to and, for some reason, it just isn't the Aquarian right now. Which of your decks tends to get stuck in the corner, at least right now?

Anyone else read this interview with Mark Ryan? Not that I'm getting my hopes up. If it were straightforward it would already have happened as it has with the Celtic Shaman pack, so I assume the question of who owns the rights to the Greenwood art is maybe not clear cut.

I’m looking for inspiration and would love to hear about any decks (tarot or oracles) where the artwork is rendered in ink. It’s fine if the artist added some color, but I want the art to be predominantly ink and the shading to be done in ink (not just outlined in ink). Two decks that come to mind are the Wild Unknown and Tarot of the Abyss. I own the former but not the latter. It would be cool to see more decks that are done completely in black ink, like the tarot of the abyss. I am honestly not looking to buy more decks but rather wanting to look at different inking styles for inspiration and artistic nourishment. I’m doing an artistic ’depth year’ o…

I am sharing with you this tag created by The Somatic Sorceress on YT a while ago. She made this tag to explore decks that have been pivotal in our practices, and the questions are honestly incredibly interesting. With this tag you can: 🔸Reflect on the value and purpose of your cards in your practice 🔸Redefine a deck 🔸Recommend your favorite decks 🔸Gain motivation to use decks you had abandoned 🔸Gain insight of all the areas that tarots and oracles can cover 1. Pivotal Tarot: A deck that changed the way you think and feel about the tarot. What deck helped advance your understanding of the tarot? 2. Pivotal Oracle: A deck …

Well, my Anieth Stone Tarot arrived. Unboxing? Well, no, there was no box, only a rather tethered and rumpled padded envelope 😞 I am rather dismayed at its general condition! The box, the cards were in is pretty smushed out of shape. The box also, when straightened out as far as that still works, does not really fit the deck, it is a wee bit too short and quite a bit too wide.....?? A.E. Stone stuffed a piece of cardboard into the gap, but that has now crumpled up and messed up several cards. 2 pamphlets, that came with it are crumpled. I have not looked at all the cards yet, will do that tomorrow. All in all I t…

I've got a new craze going and for once it isn't an expensive one. Gold Foil Decks! I bought one just for the heck of it and then I got impressed with it. No harm done, eh? Guess again! Now I have four of them of different styles. I've become a gold foil deck buying monster. Now that I've caught on that there are different styles, I know not where this obsession is going to end. There's even a PINK gold foil deck. When I cruised past it over and over again, my thought was-----no, not any use even looking closely at that one. I figured it was some hokey, ghastly ,childish, uber Barbie pink thing and I'm not into that. Then I looked more c…

Looks like quite a lot of work is happening by Avalon Cameron and Ana Tourian on this deck! Just sharing some images here that were posted on Facebook. Avalon said a second round of pre-orders is going to be launched via her Etsy store on Nov 1 Australia time. It's pricey with shipping though [emoji15]I think something like $60 before shipping and $90 after, to the US. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm addressing my query to anybody here who regularly reads with more than one tarot system. By that I mean the RWS, Thoth, Marseille, etc. What are the strengths of each particular system? How do you choose which one to read with, at any given time? I am only familiar with the RWS system, but always wondered about the others. I'm not sure I want to spend the remaining years of my life (I'm 76 now) learning a new system if it's only going to show me what the RWS system already does. However, if there is a lot to be gained by learning another system, then maybe I should! 🙂

The Tarot of the Cat People by Karen Kuykendall is one of my all-time favourite decks and the only one that has a permanent place on my work desk. I have always been intrigued by the frame story of the Outer Region, but the LWB only has minimal detail on that story. I know there is a companion book. Does anyone have it, who can tell me more about it? Most of the previews online show the pages with card meanings, but the LWB covers those quite well. I’m more interested in the story material. How substantial is it in the book?

Well!! I have been resisting this sort of deck for quite some time... always looking and looking and thinking I don't like it that much... So I finally decided "Just buy one already!". There are 2 versions from TarotCollectibles, and it took me quite some-time to decided which one to get. Black Light or Neon Pam. I happen to already have a UV torch (pets. Good for checking for pee on the ground!) - so I'm all sorted! Huh. Looks like night-time is going to become even more interesting for me... (I've already installed a movement sensitive multi coloured light in the toilet 😂) Daylight: Darkness - …
