This is a lovely video from seven years ago, where Rachel showed her technique for making spreads. She used the querents own words and created spread positions based on that. She also showed an example reading based on a fictional client. ❤️ We miss you, Rachel! ❤️

I saw this spread over at Jessi Huntenburgs blog and thought that it was really interesting and that it might be helpful for many people, so I wanted to share it in case you haven't already seen it! Here is the original blog post: https://jessihuntenburg.wordpress.com/2017/11/17/the-holiday-wellness-spread/ (6 cards in two rows with three cards each) Card 1: Giving from the heart: how you can connect with your deepest reserves of joy and gratitude this season. Card 2: Gathering around the hearth: advice for working through the challenges and triggers of family dynamics. Card 3: Keeping up with the Jones’s: releasing unrealistic expectations and embracing t…

Another spread made a while ago! Take Death out of your deck and sit with it for a moment. Gaze at the card and contemplate what Death means to you. Think about your experiences, or lack thereof, with Death so far. Write a bit about this. When you're ready, place Death back in your deck FACE UP. Shuffle it in, nice and thorough. Shuffle 13 times to honor Death. Then, seek Death out. Dig through your deck until you find it - the deeper you have to dig, the deeper his transformation is within your Soul. When you find Death, take it and the surrounding 2 cards out. The one on top is Charon's Obul, your payment to The Ferryman. Have you paid your dues? If you got …

For visual thinkers like me, mind mapping is a great way to visualise my thought processes, give structure to my ideas and map out a plan. Mind mapping allows you to keep track of the main idea or core challenge while giving attention to its different aspects, sub-challenges and even details - you see the forest AND the trees. The usual approach is a sun-like structure: the main idea in the middle, the different aspects branching out from it, and each of them again divided into more detail. (Image source) Of course, you don't have to follow the radial structure of the typical mind map - you can put two concepts next to ea…

Just came across this spread, recently posted by tarot blogger Oephebia, and it looks like a good one so thought I would share! Here is the link: https://oephebia.wordpress.com/2017/10/29/day-of-the-dead-spread/ 1 – Advice from my ancestors (here take it as what you need to know or to do to improve your life) 2 – What I need to banish, to let go, to remove from my life, what is no longer serving me. 3 – What I need to embrace, to welcome in my life, to attract to me. 4 – Ancestral traits I need to tap into. What qualities from my ancestors (immediate ancestors or from many generations ago, in other words, your tribe), I may want to use. 5 – What is holding me bac…

This was originally posted to the Aeclectic Tarot Tarot Spreads Forum by Miss_Apples. Unfortunately, the date posted no longer shows up, so I can't say when it went up. It seems like an excellent spread for when you feel a spirit may be hanging around you or a location.; From Miss_Apples' original post; "Here's a spread I made to try and get in touch with any spirit that may be surrounding you including spirit guides." The Spirit Spread --2-----3-- -----1----- --4-----5-- card #1 represents the spirit, a little info about who they are card # 2 represents why they are with you right now card # 3 represents what they want you to know card # 4 re…

I described this spread on the old AT forum, but since I think we have new people here who might not have seen it, I'll share it again. I begin by laying out seven cards. They can be two cards for past, three for the present, two for the future. Or any variation thereof, using three cards in whatever position you want the most information. You read those seven cards, but then if there's a card in any position that you'd like more information on, you draw another card (or more) and branch off that card in another direction. You can keep drawing cards along that same line but only till there are 7 cards in that direction----meaning six more cards after the one in question…

Here is one of my smaller spreads that has a less-sprawling narrative behind it. It was created a few of months ago during the last budget crisis, so the climate addressed by the example reading has changed some. I could see using it to vet news stories. AUTHOR'S NOTE: Whenever I see a post that purports to fact-check some controversial occurrence, I immediately become suspicious that the supposedly impartial investigator has a private agenda that is being served by facts specifically "groomed" to support the objective, a hunch that is usually borne out by the demonstrated bias of the platform on which the reporting appears. Here is an experimental spread that …

This thread got inspired by the "what makes a deck click for you?" Thread. @Chariot mentioned deck interview spreads a propos the what makes a deck click topic ... and I realized that very few spreads "click" for me. I have 3 go-to spreads and everything else is either open reading or make my own as needed. Most spreads just don't hit for me. I enjoy trying spreads on this forum ... in the reading circles or whatnot ... but I only do them here. I'll NEVER do any of them IRL. There's even one spread I learned at a conference that i really adore. But no. It remains enshrined in notes and never actually used. Like a deck that you love but never read with. …

I recently came across this spread whilst browsing the Labyrinthos app. Having a degree in psychology, this one was very interesting to me. The spread can be found here: https://labyrinthos.co/blogs/learn-tarot-with-labyrinthos-academy/maslow-s-hierarchy-of-needs-a-5-card-tarot-spread From that page: A 5 Card Tarot Spread on Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs The spread itself is simple enough. Each card represents one of the levels of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, and can represent all of the following. Allow your intuition to make the connections between the card and the position. The particular nature of the need …

In every book I have read so far there is the Celtic Cross. I haven't tried it yer because of the number of cards. But it intrigues me why it is so popular. What is the value of a big spread like this that you don't find in smaller spreads?

Admit it, for most of us, a good number of the questions we get center on good ole l'amour. I've always used a dependable (tho rather large) spread in gauging the current and future states of the relationship between two people. With minor modifications I also use this to discern the potential compatibility between a couple of souls. It's not always set in stone tho - if I want more details regarding an area of concern I draw more cards (or sometimes even a separate mini-spread). While it has served me in good stead, I'm still quite curious about what the other readers here use for love and relationship readings. I reckon that I may glean something from these, maybe us…

Feedback, comments and questions are welcome. April 8 just happens to be this super cosmic day in terms of astrology, so why not play with that energy? Some of you are in an area where the sun will be eclipsed totally or partially mid-afternoon. We will not see a total solar eclipse again for twenty years in this part of the world. According to Michelle Bell, founder of the astrology app ‘Cosmic Fusion’, “The solar eclipse amplifies the new moon energy, marking it as a time of significant change, unexpected developments, and powerful revelations that can redirect our life paths.” We entered Mercury Retrograde on April 1. Mercury Retro…

I have been doing tarot for a year but I am still learning. I haven't done a-lot of readings until recently because of a new relationship. Currently I just shuffle and whatever falls I take into account, I never know when to stop though. So I will have 10 cards on the table and be confused because I can't exactly interpret what's going on with so many cards. So what are simple spreads for newbies like me?

It is based on the look of a newly sprouted seed as it begins to grow. .........5 .............4 .....3 .........1 .........2 1) The Seed - What you need to know about the idea. 2) The Root - What will nourish the idea. 3) The First Leaf - The immediate future. 4) The Second Leaf - What is needed to keep the idea or project growing. 5) The Newest Bud - What will maintain the idea or project in the longer ter…

When I run out of meatier subjects to explore in my blog posts, I fall back on spread creation. Lately I've been taken with what I call "mixed-media" spreads using cards and another method of divination (mainly as a "pointer" for card selection). It's an entirely unnecessary iteration, to be sure, but it's fun to tinker with. https://parsifalswheeldivination.com/2020/06/28/walking-the-line-a-situational-awareness-response-spread/

I'm one to think that The Tower has some powerful lessons, if you're willing to face it. It's to be respected, but not feared. Here's a spread to help see the light in the chaos. 1. What barriers did you build up to protect yourself? 2. How did those barriers block you in? 3. What did you long for from the top of your tower? 4. What destroyed your personal Tower? 5. How will this free you? 6. How will this leave you vulnerable? 7. What unshakable foundations can you rely on when all else is lost? 8. What should you carry away as you move forward from this experience? Hopefully this spread can help you shake off the dust and move forward, proudly still alive!

Hi! So this is a spread I made last night that helped me out quite a lot, so I figured I'd take a chance and post it here in case anyone else would like to try it. I suppose some people might find the questions too vague, so feel free to alter them slightly as fit. :) This is just what worked for me and my Royo Dark Tarot Mini. 2............................5 ...............1............... ......3................4...... (I pictured it like a bowl of water with card 1 only slightly lower than cards 2 and 5, if that helps any. :) ) 1.What is my mental state right now? 2. What are some things that are bugging me? 3. What are some things I need to work on? 4. …
