Starlight Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 Great, thank you, @Raggydoll, @gregory 😄 Next question - being a newbie to Gimp, is there anything I can do to this image to make it more polished, or will it pass muster when it's shrunk down to the card's dimensions?

I’ll leave that bit to @gregory because I don’t work with gimp 🙂
gregory Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 gregory has messaged Starlight as you typed. But a little could be done with photoshop. I don't know that it particularly needs it.

Raggydoll Posted April 12, 2020 Author Posted April 12, 2020 @Perenelle asked me to help her post her image here (two of water), so people can chime in with their opinions.
joy Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 Wow so much happened here since I was last online! @Grandma love your card and will comment in the other thread with regards to Diamond. @LoveLightPeace great job! I too love card #1 the best but I believe gregory is correct, #3 will probably be better once printed. @KaiNO amazing card, love it!! @Starlight there is no need to add anything, looks great now!

I like it. The bottom right corner is a little dark, but I don't think that's a problem. It makes the waters seem more mysterious. I love the shade of blue that was used!
gregory Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 Yes - I was bothered by the dark corner. I do think the fish could be lighter - YELLOWER - if that's possible
Grandma Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 @Starlight I love the colors in the last version. I get the concept. It's a great interpretation. I do wonder, though, when you say... 7 hours ago, Starlight said: The bow and arrow is what happens when you have that bolt from the blue and suddeny everything becomes clear and you know where to focus and set your sights. The clarity that comes with that flash. And you can start to take aim, although the arrow is nowhere near the target, it's the start of its trajectory. It has a focus now. ...if the lightning should be directed the other way? If the lightning is coming from the arrow, should the forks should be heading away from the bow and arrow? Lightning starts with a bolt which forks as it reaches toward the ground. That would mean some resizing and repositioning. Your concept is insightful and new, but I wonder if it would be more obvious if the arrow were the source of the lightning?

I'd love to tease this out with you. :) My idea was that the Ace is about the initial spark that sets things in motion. And it could come from within the individual, but I always think it feels as if it's almost divinely-inspired. Everything just falls into place without conscious effort, do you know what I mean? So that's why I thought a "bolt from the blue" captured that energy best. Of course, the place it comes from could very well be within, because our subconscious is going through things and making connections and then hey presto! a flash of light brings everything together into one coherent picture. Sometimes those pictures are hard to articulate but the energy lives in you. (D'you know, going through this with you is doing WONDERS for how I'm going to write up the card description! Thank you, Grandma!!) I like your idea about the lightning coming from the arrow. It does change what the arrow represents for me, because if the bolt comes from the arrow then the arrow is equated with the divine/Source. Whereas I saw the arrow as belonging to the individual, the person the cards are being read for. The immaterial and unseen taking the first step towards the material.

Or maybe it's like a metaphor I've used to try to understand where our ability to read Tarot comes from. I think it's like music. It's out there and by a mysterious process comes through us, into our guitars or grand pianos or a stick and a coconut, and out into the world. What do you think? By the way, you probably already know that I love this type of discussion!

By the way, you probably already know that I love this type of discussion! LOL, I do, too! 😃 Yes, that's a really good example - where does our ability to read Tarot come from? Or our ability to produce music? We get those flashes of inspiration and insight. We're bigger than just the limits of our physical bodies. Our etheric body, for example, is outside the physical and can't be seen. So this flash is coming from both within and without, in a sense. From within, because you embody it, and without, because it's beyond the physical body. Edited April 13, 2020 by Starlight
Grandma Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 Echoes of @Wanderer's intuition seminar - you taught us well, sensei Wanderer. Starlight, you don't have to settle on one interpretation, you know, because meanings vary across questions, spreads, and querents. Including several possibilities in your essay would be instructive.

Yup, and having this dialogue with you has helped flesh out what I was trying to convey. Thank you, Grandma! (How are things with you, btw? Have you heard from your grandson. Is he still on the road to feeling better?) And yes, a big thank you to @Wanderer. I really enjoyed the class!
Grandma Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 He's feeling almost back to normal actually. Thanks for asking. I posted more detail in the Feeling Lonely thread a little while ago. And so far I am symptom free and strictly quarantining.

We had people sign up and the class was in the mentorship area (only visible to those that are mentors or students). It is closed now and we in the staff decided to let it remain in the mentoring area for now, so students can reference it. If @Wanderer were up to it then he could at some point revive the old group (and perhaps allow for new participants) or start a second group. It would still be done as a sign up thing and only visible to those that have signed up 🙂
geoxena Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 Oh whew, I thought I missed something while my internet was giving me problems, but that was before I joined this forum. Thanks.

At the moment I'm using all the unexpected spare time to get immersed in some research that has been waiting for me for literally years (hence not being very active on here lately!), so probably not in the immediate future, but yes - absolutely. Either reviving the old group, or starting from the beginning... will see if I can come up with some new approaches, so it would be useful for all. Would love to do something, though, if there's demand!

I feel quite strongly (being what is called an intuitive reader) hat whatever I am getting comes from outside me - or perhaps better, is TRIGGERED by something outside me. The Tarot Zapper On High gives my inner workings a kick -make sense ?

The Tarot Zapper On High gives my inner workings a kick -make sense ? Yes, this is the way I'm leaning as well. From a bigger, non-ordinary-reality perspective, the lightning bolt may be coming from within, but here in physical reality it feels to me as if it's divinely-inspired or coming from outside. (It kind of harks back to "as within/so without" as well.) In the LWB meaning I'll try to add in both perspectives, but the way I understand the Ace of Air is how I've put it together in the card. 🙂 I'm just re-reading what I wrote in the post above and it does look like I'm wavering a bit, but the thing is, everyone's right and I can't disagree. Each person has made their own connection to the card and how they understand the energy and each viewpoint is valid. 👍 The way I drew the card, though, is the way I feel the energy, so that's how I'll run with it. 🙂 I really love these discussions! Creating something in images is one thing, but then talking about it afterwards here and having to write down how I understand the card and why I created it as I did is very insightful. I think I've really deepened my understanding of the cards I've put together. They've really come alive for me. Edited April 13, 2020 by Starlight
