Tarot Decks

I looked through this forum to see if I could find a topic like this but didn't see one. I just thought it might be fun to share what decks we're reaching for lately. What do you keep returning to and why? What deck is drawing your attention right now? Do you think there's a reason? I've been drawn to the This Might Hurt tarot pretty steadily since I received it (last fall) and that's still true now. But I could see how recent events might cause people to reach for something new or familiar or just change things up! So I'm curious. 🙂 (I'm new so please let me know if this isn't the right spot for this.)

Here's a beautiful and unusual deck by Kevin Jay Stanton, new on Kickstarter: I love the striking art. This seems like a deck where readers might need to rely a lot on the book to understand the flowers and meanings intended by the creator- the flowers I recognize strike me as pretty intuitive (like Lotus and Elderflower), but there are others I don't immediately recognize. According to the Kickstarter page it comes with "a booklet explaining the symbolic meaning of each card and each plant." I've been following this artist and really love his work.

I'm on a no buy/low buy year but I still like to check Kickstarter every once in a while (because FOMO and also because I like to make things difficult for myself ) and I came across this deck. I searched the forum but I don't think it's been mentioned around here yet, so I wanted to ask what you guys think? Personally I think it looks really nice, even though I'm not usually a fan of fairy decks and don't own a single one. I love heavy gold foiling, it's one of the things that drew me into the Ethereal visions. But I'm not a huge fan of the pregnant Empress... I just think it's too one sided an interpretation for that card.

I've been looking for this deck forever, and during my weekly 'Let's see if anyone's selling it for less than my month's rent' Google session I stumbled across a listing on Bookdepository - apparently the German edition is going to be reprinted? Not as ideal as if it were the English version (seriously, publishers, get on that!!) but the English Guidebook is on the Fool's Dog app, I think, so - better than nothing, right? Apologies if this is old news! I searched the forum and couldn't find a thread mentioning it, but it's very possible that I missed it.

I am a serial Kickstarter backer and just came across this one: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/as-so/the-metamyth-tarot I know highly variant decks aren't for everyone but I like them for writing/GMing, and I like what the creator's displayed of this one so far. We'll see if they make their goal and get it up for sale. The art style reminds me of the Ellis Deck and Mystic Mondays.

Alright, I'm here to set up something I've been really thinking about and that I think we could all benefit from. We have a great forum full of people who use all three of the "major" systems - TDM, RWS and Thoth. Thus, I figured we all should cross pollinate a bit and discuss, compare and contrast, the various cards within. Hi guys, I was watching a video on Youtube, and like the deck that two of the cards featured was pulled from but there was no identification. Does anyone recognize the deck to which these two cards belong? 10 OF CUPS 4 OF SWORDS

Greetings dear community! I am looking to transition from the detailed decks into more of a pip decks but not yet 100% pip I am looking for good suggestions for these kinds of decks. One I have been using is the Wild Unknown -which for me started the transition from a highly illustrated pictures to more simplified- less detailed ones but still with some images. Any other decks you feel would suit me please let me know! Cheers!!

If you were to choose three to five decks for the keen tarot student, who wanted a well rounded education with a good cross-section of styles/general philosophy/card meanings... what would be your selection?

Hello everyone! Hope you're all well. Not sure if I am in the minority, but I actually like tarot cards that are used for both reading and gaming. There is symbolism there too (e.g. even the Kings could be beaten by Death or by the Judgement, and the Fool does not follow the conventional rules). I don't do gaming often though, and I usually only do readings for myself and my wife. Anyway, I got interested in the "Piedmontese" decks, and I was wondering if anyone has some of these that they are especially happy with? Is anybody familiar with the Fantasy Creatures Tarot? That deck has utterly smitten me but information regarding it is rather scarce. All I know is that it was created by the Russian artist Vera Petruk AKA Samiramay. It pops up in many stock photo websites, but I don't know if it has been released as an actual physical deck like her Old Memories Tarot. While I do enjoy the art, it is the attribution of monsters/deities/fantastical creatures to each Tarot card that makes the deck so awesome for me. I'm going to post some (watermarked) images so that you'd have an idea.

I swear I first saw this deck here and that was what prompted me to hunt it down - but I cannot find the thread. It is slightly different from the version described here https://tarot-heritage.com/2015/11/13/the-readers-digest-capek-tarot-de-marseille/#more-1357 in that the titles do not have the added symbols and the book (with gold edged pages) I got is by Emilie Porte. (In French, but I can hack that - and the book seems decent. None of the stuff Sherryl objects to. It's rather lovely, and you can find it in several places on line. For a ghastly moment I had thought I was getting something else entirely - long story - but no !

I heard this rumor a couple of times on Facebook, that Ellen was looking into having the dark goddess tarot mass produced and to also reprint her Tarot of the Crone. I wasn’t sure what to believe but today I saw this: So it certainly isn’t a done deal but still potentially hopeful news. If anyone knows more then please share!

A while ago I found these images online, without any source or other info. I've spent a while now going through online galleries and catalogues, but I can't find out what deck this is. I guess it is a complete deck because of the image of the back. Admittedly, I am kind of bad at entering the right keywords and my eyes suck so I might just have missed the info somewhere. It looks like a deck I might want to get.

I wonder if this is an impossible-to-answer question. Which decks are NOT based on RWS, Thoth, Astrology, Kabbalah, nor any religion, yet have more than just pip cards for the minors?

I bumped into this deck while looking for something else on Google, and I was surprised to find no reference to it in the forums, or almost anywhere. It's... intriguing. Nothing we have not seen before, down to the cobweb on the backs, but intriguing nonetheless. The Kickstarter campaign was funded last year: It should be available in April, and can still be preordered on Etsy. I posted about this in the First Purchase of the year Thread, and people seemed to like it - but I did point out that the stock was almost exhausted. http://www.helenivory.co.uk/fools-world-tarot-publication/ The creator is considering a reprint, if there is interest. Who here would buy if it came out again. (For the record it cost me a whole £20 - peanuts for such a deck !)

I‘ve done a search without any results, so I hope it’s ok to open a new thread for this. Do you know of any decks with humans, but without pregnant bellies and babies? So basically a „childfree„ deck where the concept of fertility is interpreted differently. TIA!

One recent Tarot deck that has gone unnoticed, and unjustifiably so, in my opinion, is that of the surrealist artist Maurice Baskine, Le Tarot de la Conscience [The Tarot of Consciousness]. This was recently rediscovered and published in France, along with Baskine’s text as a LWB. (There are a few pictures online, but not many.) Baskine had a strong interest in alchemy, astrology and Jewish mysticism, notably, and also produced some illustrations for André Breton’s Arcane 17, a work itself inspired by the Tarot. At the time, his deck and the manuscript for his booklet were favourably mentioned by a number of prominent writers, and we find the following praise …
