Like many learners I struggle to find ways to practice and "drill" (uneventful life, small social circle, etc.). And it's not just about the "meaning" of the card, but now it's more about wording, while sticking to the essence of the card. So here's the exercise I've been doing : - Shuffe a Tarot deck, pull one card, keep it face down. - Question : "what does this card predict ?" => pull 3 Lenormand cards (maybe because it's too early for me but I find 5 cards very difficult here). - Read, combine, etc. Remember you want to know what it predicts so a statement in the future helps (wink to those trying to break away from the soul-deep vi…

Hey fellow Lenormand Readers If you have a line of 3-cards: 1 - 2 - 3 Do you mirror 1-2 2-3 1-3 Or 1-2 2-3 3-1 Or do you do it different?

From what I've gathered, the prevailing sense when it comes to Lenormand relative to tarot is that Lenormand is better for direct answers to questions about the everyday, worldly, and mundane. While tarot works for that too, of course, it can also be good for more complex questions of introspection, philosophy, and explorations of the psyche because it's as much about humans as it is about situations. What I'm trying to suggest, I suppose, is that tarot may be better suited for "new age" tarot reading -- meaning, tarot reading that's less for divination and more so for what I described in the title of this post. You're not going to have as much room for meditative interpr…

I already read Tarot and some Oracle cards. I’ve wanted to learn Lenormand for a long time now. I started a book on it, but I was side tracked by an Old Cartomancy Deck learned that instead. I have several Lenormand Decks and just ordered Gilded Reverie Lenormand Expanded Edition, I also have a couple of more traditional ones and the Green Glyphs Lenormand. I guess what I want to know is it easy to get started using YouTube videos? I am very busy right now and I haven’t had a chance to get back to the book, I’ve been studying Tarot in depth instead. Can I start doing preliminary readings without an extensive course? If not I can put it on the back burner for after …

Hey everyone. I have a quick question about timing in grand tableaus. To give a bit of background, I normally use the houses technique in my GT readings (not the near-far method) and would separate my tableaus into past-present-future segments if I'm not reading for a specific question/ time-frame. For timing, I've been experimenting with the technique I read about first in Rana George's book, i.e. using time signs. She explains that when you've located the significator, you'll then find a focus card which represents the situation you're asking about and count the spaces between the two; if said card is to the right of the significator, then we're looking at the…

As the title says, what is the difference? Which is the oldest? Would really like the opinion from someone here on the forum. Thank you!

There are various ways to do readings - card spreads - and number of cards used for a reading. It is not clear to me whether or not the cards are placed face down at first in the spread and turned over one at a time while moving through the reading until the final card is revealed, or all cards are turned over before the reading begins...in the latter the cards selected need to be placed in the chosen spread face down. Also does the spread selected impact whether cards are placed down or up and how each card is revealed for a reading. And is this impacted if a personal reading or for someone else?

Hello TT&M! I was just recommended to your group, I have heard amazing things about it! I was doing a class on Facebook about Lenormand, but the group I was in changed, and I have since been looking for a place to put my posts! I was directed here! <3 Thank you very much for having me! My goal is to help newcomers to Lenormand have a place to start learning, and a nice environment to ask questions! So for today I am posting some general questions I have received in the past, and hopefully giving people a good idea as to what Lenormand is all about! [shadow=red, left]What is Lenormand?[/shadow] Lenormand is a divination system, much like Tarot. It contains 3…

Interested to hear your thoughts on this one folks. I’m very new at Lenormand, as you know. I’d like to keep a journal to record my understanding of the cards over time. How would you go about organising this? I was thinking of setting aside a few pages per card - one for each card on its own, plus sections for card combinations. I don’t know if that would work in practise or if I’m setting myself up for overwhelm. I’m already keeping a journal here now that I’m trying out daily readings, as I thought it would be easier to keep it searchable. But I really like having offline journals for things too. What do you think? 🙂

So they say, Lenormand cards are much more objective as compared to Tarot cards. And that they rule out significantly the intuition aspect. Posting my recent experience on which I would love to have your take Currently I have been assigned this project which in the first meeting failed to impress the committee, and they recommended closure of the project before time. The matter was then passed on to another committee. At this juncture I asked my Lenormand cards as to what I could expect as an outcome. The cards that came up were Book-Coffin-Clover With coffin in the center, I felt it was a dead giveaway that this superlative committee would also tow the lin…

I posted a reading here and noticed that it does not seem like there are so many active people on this forum. Is there another place where Lenormand readers gather perhaps?

So I really am in love with Lenormand and don't want to half-ass it. The two texts that I'm using as my base (A. Boroveshengra and R. George) along with other things I've read and cast aside all seem to agree on one thing: learning the order of the cards is very important and a solid foundation not to be skipped. So, I've decided to do nine cards at a time and make a little story and thought that it would be really fun to see what others create, too. So, for the first nine cards in their proper order I have the beginning of a very short story. It will help me to write these four sentences multiple times instead of the words and their number over and over. A r…

I've been toying with the idea of looking into Lenormand and wondered what the great hive mind would suggest for a beginners deck. I did pledge for the Kickstarter of The Friars Delight, but I don't think they are going to make it to goal. So, I'm wondering what you think would be a good deck for a newbie and why. Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone, I have a question about interpreting positive cards that fall right after negative ones. Just looking at such a progression, I want to say that, after some problems, things will get better. But many cards have specific negative meanings attached to their right side (the Coffin, the Mice, the Mountain). Other cards emphasize their right side as the main point of attack (in my deck - the Clouds, the Scythe, the Snake). For example, a couple of days ago I had an otherwise positive line ending with Snake - Heart. The Heart is positive on its own, but the Snake was biting right into it, and I didn’t know what to make of it. So should I just…

Since I been doing daily draws with the Lenormand, I realize that it straight out tells you what’s going to happen. I don’t find it cryptic but it’s like trying to figure out the correct answer. For instance some of it can be literal. ex. clover + fish a small fortune. where some I’m left confused Ex. snake + tree medicine that’s contraband? I find it fascinating as well you really do have to analyze your day to figure out where the cards are at play. I do admit at times I let the my own combination influence me only to realize it means something different 🫣 Also for some reason I feel that this is more strai…

I've recently started to try and get back into learning Lenormand and am having difficulties understanding how to interpret yes/no questions. I've noticed reading through some of the posts here which are yes/no questions, that they are answered by reading the cards. I had read some authors don't interpret the cards in Lenormand, rather, they count the number of positive v negative cards to elicit an answer. I'm consequently finding this a bit confusing. Should they be read like a story and the outcome of the story giving an indication of yes or no, or should one not interpret the cards drawn at all, and only focus on whether they are positive or negative? …

I don’t mind admitting when I have made a mistake. I started my Lenormand System studies about 7 years ago. I absolutely didn’t listen at all to learning one method and went and gathered every book in English I could find. I also was very lucky to join one of Andy B’s Cartomante Cabinet courses. Then - in my wisdom LOL - I went off the rails and cobbled together a system that is oh so many things combined. One of my friends calls it “eclectic’ in nature. Now my readings are okay, but…… I am seeing how much more defined, direct and accurate it is to use Method of Distance. So I am going back to the blackboard, erasing a lot of the trash and even startin…

Hello, I have been practicing consistently since last year and keeping notes - It has been a wonderful experience to learn about my day, occasionally myself & my environment. Couple of cards are giving me trouble and it's not the bear or the moon. Anchor: How does everyone read the anchor card? Going over my journal notes, looks like It mostly appears in the capacity of stagnation for me. Has anyone experienced this? Clover: Can clover be read as something fleeting or is it always gamble/luck? Eg: I was trying to see if I can do a prediction for a minor event. It was more like "what will the result of the eve…

This is far beyond my skillset ... but I've seen tutorials and read books that mention the "houses" in the GT [i.e. Rider is first house and Cross is #36 house according to the deck itself]. But I can't remember anyone mentioning if its significant when a card falls in its own house. Does this strengthen the card? Make it more positive? Or? Doesn't matter?

So, I said to myself that after getting Normal Gold, I wasn't going to get anymore decks. However, after getting suggested lenormand decks both on here and Kickstarter, and seeing it come up on my social media, I'm super curious about it and am kind of thinking about finding one. But I can't find any information about the lenormand style online beyond the card meaning individually. I wanna find out more about it before I buy (or make, which is an option also) a deck. Do you guys know any good websites to look at for beginners or good resource posts on here?

I am just getting started learning Lenormand. I'm learning from the book The Lenormand Oracle Handbook by Caitlin Matthews. She has exercises for each chapter. She said that the deck used should have the playing card insets. My choice of decks are very similar The Lenormand Oracle (which is a larger format) and the smaller Grand Tableau Lenormand for larger spreads--the imagery is almost exactly the same so it shouldn't be confusing, in fact I thought they were the same decks at first only different in size. Both decks are published by Lo Scarabeo I like the larger cards because I have big hands, but I realize that using them for everything wouldn't be practical. I …

Hi fellow Lenormand readers If I do a 3x3 readings, reading the corners 1 & 9 and 3 & 7 as the situation and then the inner core/diamond: 2, 4, 5, 6, 8 as what will happen. This is how we do it in the circle. Then you have a general question like: how will the week go. Is it possible that the situation is a different topic/subject then the inner core? Like the situation is about a work situation but the what will happen is about something private? Bit confused right now..... Glad for any input. I am referring to a reading I did, you can also check the feedback. Am I overthinking? https://www.the…

As I move through learning Lenormand, there's a big concept I'm having trouble understanding and I'm hoping more experienced readers can help. How do you incorporate a card as timing rather than meaning? I understand the mechanics of a card's timing, I just don't know how to read a card as such, or when to read a card as timing. All help appreciated!

Hi, I been going over in my mind to take first third of the 4x9 grand tableu to look at the past of the sitter. With the third party rule in place I can only think of two of 3 possible topics as they deal with the past. This would 12 cards instead of your 3x3, be 4x3 1. The actual past. How does my past affect me. I think most people know their past though so they are focused more on present and future by default. suppose one could ask for a past analysis 2. The past life While this is more subjective, it would be more what specific past life affects me most. Rather then what issues from them all affec…

So, pulling two cards out at random from the mystical Lenormand, I get Storks and the Horse Rider. (This isn't an actual reading, just an example to see if I have the right idea.) So could that be along the lines of the changes being kickstarted by some good news? But it would be different if they were the other way round? Struggling a bit with this!
