I've been keeping an eye on Taroteca Studio, the makers of Dark Mansion, ever since I received a sample card for an upcoming deck of theirs when I ordered my copy of Dark Mansion. https://taroteca-studio.com/en_US/n/3 The Slavic Legends deck should be out in Fall or so, and I love the samples so far. Such great art, and a subject I really enjoy (I have a few similar decks, like Velga North's Forgotten Legends).

What is your favorite in-print Rider Waite Smith deck with Smith's artwork? I just need a few basic Rider Waites with Pamela's art that handle well, nothing fancy. I love my Pamela Coleman Smith centennial edition but the card stock, while lovely, is pretty stiff, and I find it doesn't handle smoothly when I'm shuffling with my eyes closed. It takes a long time to break in. I have an Original RW from 1993, the Belgian printing, which I really like. Good card stock, good images, pretty backs (roses and lilies, not that hideous plaid!). But it is really old and just feels dirty. I bought a new edition of this deck (rose and lily) but the colors don't …

I personally think making/using/supporting AI art, at least as it exists right now, is unethical, but I don't want to potentially start drama by debating that. This is not that discussion! Instead, I'm curious what opinion people here have on whether AI art is useful for divination. I'm probably not the only person who's seen AI art tarot decks popping up on Kickstarter, but that's what got me wondering. Can art created by an algorithm have the same - metaphysical? I'm not sure what the right term is here - value as art created by a human artist? Can AI art be used for divination, or is it lacking something that human-created art has that is nece…

I think we've all likely been there. Gotten a deck that caught our aesthetic eye only to not be a "reader" for us. Disappointing! I've had more decks I've moved along than kept. The decks that are the "warmest" and best readers for me are the ones I go back to. JUST a couple on a long list....and BEAUTIFUL decks, Tarot of Prague. Just wasn't a reader for me. And I find a lot of what I think of as collage decks, aren't. Mystic Dreamer, thought was "pretty". Then I realized photographic decks not really readers for me (I thought it was made up of paintings/drawings until I got it). So if these are two of your fav decks,…

Is anyone following Marie White's blog about her 2nd edition of the Mary-El https://tarotsmyth.wordpress.com/)? She has changed a few cards. For example: here is the old and new Hierophant. She has also posted her new 3 of Swords, Judgment, HP. I pre-ordered a copy and it is scheduled to arrive on May 28.

Of all the Pagan Tarot sets, which do you find: a) the most Pagan/Wiccan. (Truest to Paganism/Wicca)? b) the most eloquent for a Pagan/Wiccan? c) the one with the best accompanying book related to Paganism? d) the most evocative? e) the easiest to read with? Thank you.

Recently I read a comment about new-agey decks. For some reasons I can't imagine what this shall be. Could you help me out and mention some decks you would consider to be new-agey? There is a slightly negative undertone I read out in connection with the word "new-agey". I know that this must sound very naive to ask such a question, but though I read definitions of "new age" I can't get the term right.

@stephanelli suggested this might make its own topic from discussion on another thread. It's been on my mind lately. Curious what others think and feel around this. We jokingly have the tarot enabling thread and de-enabling thread. But the fact is ... we come on this forum, or social media, or YouTubes, and see decks, desire them, buy them. When I lived in a small house I was a minimalist and pretty judgy about deck collecting. Prolly it was jealousy. I had limited space and budget. Over the course of 7 months my life utterly transformed and I suddenly had a big house and money. My collection blossomed into 57 Tarots, 9 Oracle…

~heavy sigh~ I got an e-mail yesterday saying that the release of the MRP Mythical Creatures Tarot release is being delayed from November 18, 2019 to January of 2020 due to adjustments of the cold stamping for this deck. I am posting this for those that did not pre-order the deck but are keeping an eye out for it. I am so bummed this my X-mas/Yule present to myself! On the bright side they did say they would be including a small addition to the deck ...... hmmmmmmmmm .... wonder what that might be.

I had the Medieval Cat Tarot, which I did really like. Couldn't stand the smell of the laminated stock tho. I also didn't use that much and traded. But I liked the images. The pips were a cross between RWS and TdM. Illustrated, but more subtly. I am thinking of getting ONE cat deck this year, but haven't decided which, so I shall be perusing this thread to see what all of you have

I can be a VERY picky person sometimes, suffer a lot from buyer's remorse, and I've had a lot of difficulty finding a Tarot that really 'speaks' to me. I've looked through a bunch of 'Deck of the Week' threads and not found any that suited yet, so I was wondering if anyone would be willing to make some suggestions? I don't care if it's a Marseille, a Minchiate or one of those really rare ones with male and female versions of all the court cards. (In fact, if you know of any with male and female jacks and knights, I'd be interested to hear about it anyway!) Must Have: A pictorial minor arcana Strong symbolism High quality artwork Nice…

Just saw this new deck announcement on Mickie Mueller's Facebook. I guess this is one step to balance all the cat decks out there! The below is all quoted from Mickie's page: Release the hounds! Announcing a new tarot deck "Magical Dogs Tarot" from Llewellyn Worldwide! This is the concept behind the sneak peeks of that new deck that Dan and I partnered on. Watch for this deck featuring a pack of arcane canines coming to book stores September of 2018! “There is a special bond between man and canine that stretches back far into pre-history. When you gaze into the eyes of a dog you awaken echoes of this primordial union. When wolves and man first befriended each othe…

It seems that the long-awaited Everyday Enchantment Tarot by Poppy Palin is finally going to be released by Schiffer in March of 2018! I have very few completely "modern" decks, and I've had my eye on this one for quite some time. I'm just happy that it will be published at long last, and that it will be given the Schiffer treatment no less. :)

I just saw the R. Black Tarot on my feed, and hoo-boy I know this is going to be big. It's still a deck in progress AFAIK, but once it gets out I'm gonna grab it like no one's business. I love it!

When I first started, I looked at a bunch of decks online and decided on Mystic Dreamer, which I thought, looking at small pix, were drawings. Pretty deck, but so not a reader for me. Slowly, but surely, I realized which were readers for me and which weren't. PCS, for newbies, Pamela Colman Smith, is my go to. I have about three or four variations of it. Love Reall's/Irena's vintage deck and cardstock as well as the PCS Commemorative and one without borders. Bohemian Gothic is a great love as well. I have limited decks and am even moving along some of them, just because they should be read with and I tend to lean towards my favs. But wo…

Okay, with the obvious understanding that personal tastes are going to vary widely here...which tarot decks do you think are the most beautiful? No worrying about how they read or how well they connect to you - which decks take your breath away with their art? Here're mine, in no particular order; [*]Dreams of Gaia [*]Prisma Visions [*]Shadowscapes [*]Tarot of Transformation [*]Tarot of Eden [*]Joie de Vivre [*]Fantastical Creatures And though I don't have them in my hands yet... I think I've gotta include the True Black, Numinous, and Yoshi Yoshitani's Fairy Tale Tarot. What about everybody else? Which decks make your jaws drop with the sheer prett…

I'm working through the Thomson Leng Tarot over at the 78 Weeks threads. Thomson Leng is based on a system by Eudes Picard, and the elements are switched around: Swords are water and Cups are air. I'm familiar with doing it differently that the Golden Dawn did. Tarot doesn't begin and end with the GD, and it makes sense to correspond Swords to fire since they're forged in fire. But Swords-water and Cups-air is curious. I'm wondering about Picard's reasoning for this. His Manuel Synthétique et Pratique du Tarot is OOP and quite rare. If I managed to find a copy, I would be paying top dollar for a book I would have to type into google translate. There are bits of t…

I just saw that Lunaea Weatherstone is working on a new deck, with an artist named Meraylah Allwood. She posted on FB not too long ago, and has only revealed the Sun card, but I'm already so excited! https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10156403367198986&set=a.122340813985.125955.534358985&type=3&theater

Schiffer is reprinting the entire product and the replacement is expected in July. Artist-author Marie White explains on her blog: https://tarotsmyth.wordpress.com/2019/06/13/update-on-the-2nd-edition/. Marie has a link in her blog post to contact Schiffer for a replacement when it comes out.
