1. What's the difference between Lenormand and other divination systems? There are a few key differences. Lenormand cards are read in a much more literal way than other systems. Each card has a number of set meanings, which do not change based on the question being asked. Cards are always read in combinations with each other, not individually as one would do in a tarot or other oracle card reading. The order of the cards can also change the interpretation. It is advised to think of reading a 'string' of Lenormand cards as a sentence, with each card being a word or short phrase within that sentence. Answers from the Lenormand are generally more direct and to the point…

Hello! This new section of the forum is dedicated to beginner-level discussion of the Lenormand. This is the place to post basic questions about the cards and how to read them. Answers in these threads should be kept brief and easy to understand for the benefit of those just starting out with Lenormand. Please keep more technical and complex discussions in the main Lenormand section. For example, discussions about the differences between reading traditions, pip suit analysis, and the Grand Tableau should be kept over there. For detailed discussion of individual cards and their symbolism, please post those in the new Lenormand C…

20 years into the tarot and I am finally looking to enter the Lenormand. It's strange I was always familiar with the word, and people have told me about it, but I never felt the need to explore until today. I am looking for a really good deck (preferably that comes along with a guidebook) I am guessing a traditional one will help me get started and I can later diverge into nontraditional ones too? A friend recommended the Gilded REverie one but I don't think that is traditional? The other ones I came upon here are Piatnik and Pixie? And several others on a website but that was a US based one. All in all, I did use the "search" but honestly I am lost. Would be …

I read somewhere that instead of doing a daily draw without asking a question, it is easier to just ask a question. I do agree and started to do that. What I am still not sure is, which way to read the 3 cards: - from left to right - the center card being the 'theme/main' card and pair it with the left and right card Is this just up to me or why would one use one way or the other?

Greetings, I've been reading tarot for nearly 28 years. After a one week tryst with Lenormand last year, I have purchased a new deck. It feels really good to work with, I'm immensely drawn to it. Can you offer any tips of "do's and Dont's" for new readers? I am currently exploring books to purchased, yet would enjoy hearing from enthusiasts with a summary of their guidance. I've done a half dozen readings so far, some with what seems to be amazingly clear and accurate messages. Thanks,

Hi Everybody I am interested to know how you read the 3x3 - box spread. Some readers read the 1st column: past 2nd column: present 3rd column: future Some seem to do it totally different, concentrating more on the corner cards etc. Do you stick to one method or do you adapt once you see all 9 cards?

Hey all I am back after a long break Hope you are ALL doing well! I need some aid Trying to master using Lenormand which is soo different from Tarot that it gives me a huge headache Is there a possibility to find a Lenormand mentor here? In any case a few things I have been struggling with - so maybe some experts might help I dont really get the difference when one card is in front vs after another- like say house child or child house- this kid of things Another issue is the the man /woman cards- how do I read them other then a man or woman... cause they seem to pop in the most…

As the title says, what is the difference? Which is the oldest? Would really like the opinion from someone here on the forum. Thank you!

So... Mice. They nibble and gnaw at any card. My question is, how do you know what all the mice are destroying? For example, I drew a three-card line today for a question, βShould I resurrect paying for a certain service?β I drew Coffin - Mice - Bouquet The Coffin (the dead, dormant service I am no longer paying for) is modified by the Mice. So perhaps it should be resurrected, which would be the Bouquet? OR! Perhaps the service itself is not a good idea to pay for, and the Mice are chewing away at the Coffin and also the Bouquet, because it is the middle card (adjacent to both). I struggle with knowing how to ap…

I'm new-ish to Lenormand, and just tried out the Grand Tableau for the first time, a couple of days ago. I was just experimenting to see how to read that layout, (no specific querent or question, but I chose the Woman card as the significator.) I laid out a Grand Tableau three times. One time the significator card appeared on the right edge of the spread. Another time it appeared at the bottom edge of the spread. So the significator/querent has no future (right edge)? Or has no control whatsoever about what happens? (bottom edge?) I found I was unable to figure out how to read this kind of result, when the significator appears as an edge card. Any advice?

I have opened my deck of Lenormand, and the cards are beautiful! I am not ready to start exchanging readings with them yet, although I am very fond of learning by doing. So where do I start? With a three card spread? Do I follow the same shuffle routine as I have with Tarot? I AM SO EXCITED! Any pointers or hints to start me off would be very appreciated <3

So they say, Lenormand cards are much more objective as compared to Tarot cards. And that they rule out significantly the intuition aspect. Posting my recent experience on which I would love to have your take Currently I have been assigned this project which in the first meeting failed to impress the committee, and they recommended closure of the project before time. The matter was then passed on to another committee. At this juncture I asked my Lenormand cards as to what I could expect as an outcome. The cards that came up were Book-Coffin-Clover With coffin in the center, I felt it was a dead giveaway that this superlative committee would also tow the lin…

Hi! I'm new to Lenormand and I have/and am reading Andy's book 36 cards and BjΓΆrns Meuris first book. IΒ΄m searching for a book that deep dives more into the meanings and combinations of the cards. Could you perhaps point me in the right direction? Both books can refer to a card or a pair, and say "If this pair comes up it can mean this or that" That sort of information. I get frustrated because I want more information about it. It is like Saying A and never B. Do you get what I mean?

Hi everyone, I have a question about interpreting positive cards that fall right after negative ones. Just looking at such a progression, I want to say that, after some problems, things will get better. But many cards have specific negative meanings attached to their right side (the Coffin, the Mice, the Mountain). Other cards emphasize their right side as the main point of attack (in my deck - the Clouds, the Scythe, the Snake). For example, a couple of days ago I had an otherwise positive line ending with Snake - Heart. The Heart is positive on its own, but the Snake was biting right into it, and I didnβt know what to make of it. So should I just…

I've recently started to try and get back into learning Lenormand and am having difficulties understanding how to interpret yes/no questions. I've noticed reading through some of the posts here which are yes/no questions, that they are answered by reading the cards. I had read some authors don't interpret the cards in Lenormand, rather, they count the number of positive v negative cards to elicit an answer. I'm consequently finding this a bit confusing. Should they be read like a story and the outcome of the story giving an indication of yes or no, or should one not interpret the cards drawn at all, and only focus on whether they are positive or negative? …

So Iβm trying to use Lenormand for advice. I am putting out a 3x3 spread and I am wondering which way should it be read. I am assuming it wonβt be read as past, present, future 1-2-3 4β5-6 7-8-9 would the advise be 2+4+5+6+8 or would it be 3-6-9. And if 3-6-9, what would be 1-4-7 and 2-5-8?

I already read Tarot and some Oracle cards. Iβve wanted to learn Lenormand for a long time now. I started a book on it, but I was side tracked by an Old Cartomancy Deck learned that instead. I have several Lenormand Decks and just ordered Gilded Reverie Lenormand Expanded Edition, I also have a couple of more traditional ones and the Green Glyphs Lenormand. I guess what I want to know is it easy to get started using YouTube videos? I am very busy right now and I havenβt had a chance to get back to the book, Iβve been studying Tarot in depth instead. Can I start doing preliminary readings without an extensive course? If not I can put it on the back burner for after …

I've been toying with the idea of looking into Lenormand and wondered what the great hive mind would suggest for a beginners deck. I did pledge for the Kickstarter of The Friars Delight, but I don't think they are going to make it to goal. So, I'm wondering what you think would be a good deck for a newbie and why. Thanks in advance!

Hello, I'm always surprised by how little is said about the way cards are pulled. To me it seems almost the most important - I feel I suck at pulling cards. With Tarot that feeling has passed, but it's a hefty deck and somehow, overhand shuffle than cut in two, restack and pick from the top is ok. With Lenormand, I'm not sure. I don't like the fan version. So what is your way of doing it ? Do you fan out your deck and choose one by one ? For larger spreads it seems a long process. Do you shuffle, cut, restack ? Do you cut in three piles and select one from each (and in which order then ?) Curious to see how you feel about pull…

From what I've gathered, the prevailing sense when it comes to Lenormand relative to tarot is that Lenormand is better for direct answers to questions about the everyday, worldly, and mundane. While tarot works for that too, of course, it can also be good for more complex questions of introspection, philosophy, and explorations of the psyche because it's as much about humans as it is about situations. What I'm trying to suggest, I suppose, is that tarot may be better suited for "new age" tarot reading -- meaning, tarot reading that's less for divination and more so for what I described in the title of this post. You're not going to have as much room for meditative interpr…

So I saw Lisas vid here: Is she saying that Andy and Caitlins distance methods is not the pure traditional method of distance? Can someone please explain this to me. What do you think about it?

So, some backgroundβ¦ I was in a toxic relationship with a narcissist when I was a young woman. It ended when he died. This was a relief. Also, 35 years ago. So, itβs been a minute. Since then, I have created a family and home with my husband. Weβll be celebrating 30 years in a couple of months. π About six weeks ago, I was picking up on signs that someone who has passed on was trying to reach out to me. Iβve narrowed it down from three possible people to my ex. Letβs just say it was a Bye, Felicia moment on my end because NO. Well, last month I purchased my first Lenormand deck. It seems like every other reading…

I know a little about tarot, but Petit Lenormand/Spiel der Hoffnung is quite a different world to me. I haven't bought any Lenormand/Hoffnung deck yet, so I need some advice. Oracle decks of this type doesn't seem to follow any standard regarding the direction the Rider and the Ship moves, nor regarding on which side the Clouds are darker. From what I've gathered, persons proficient in "the Lenormand method" often seem to have quite firm positions on how these three cards ought to look. Which decks follow the "ideal" Lenormand design of these three cards? I don't want to buy a divergent Lenormand design by mistake, because I don't want to muddle my future use …
